This showed up on another board....trying to find something substantial on where VW came into the mix.....

Re: The future of in dash nav & multimedia

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carpcs/carputers have been around for some time now. The guys that have played with it are the real poineers of the industry. Like the makers of streetdeck.... I think VW has contracted with Intel and streetdeck on this too.

Just glad to see the intel thing isn't dead.

That would do it.....

Also found where Aptera is going to use it. Haven't been able to prove that yet.

Streetdeck is pretty prevalent in the aptera forums.....

http://www.apteraforum.com/index.php
________________________________________________
That's a good question that we don't know yet. There is some evidence that the Aptera uses active computer-controlled suspension (StreetDeck reports developing it for the Aptera, and there's a photo from inside the Aptera of a suspension control menu), although this hasn't been confirmed yet. Clearance looks to be 3-4 inches or so. How well the pods take impacts, who (outside of Aptera) knows at this point.

Tours and test drives will begin in 1-2 months, so you can ask (or find out for yourself!) then.
_________________________________________________

There's no stereo deck; that's all part of the Streetdeck system.

Again, we'll just have to wait and see what they do speaker-wise. For all we know, there might be options -- keep an eye out for myaptera.com to open up (ApteraBot should make a post about it when something changes on the site)
__________________________________________________ __
The Infill T3 car computer/monitor system powered by StreetDeck (assumedly this is the one Aptera is using) has the following inputs/outputs (ignoring ones that just go between the cpu box and the monitor):

* Power
* TV diversity antenna
* TV IN (connects to monitor)
* FRONT RIGHT (connects to monitor or amp)
* FRONT LEFT (connects to monitor or amp)
* REAR RIGHT (connects to monitor or amp)
* REAR LEFT (connects to monitor or amp)
* LINE IN RIGHT (connects to monitor or amp)
* LINE IN LEFT (connects to monitor or amp)
* BACK (Rear view camera video feed)
* VIDEO IN (auxiliary video source, such as a videogame console)
* AUX RIGHT (Right audio input to go with video in)
* AUX LEFT (Left audio input to go with video in)
* WOOFER
* CENTER
* GPS (for the GPS mouse)
* VGA (second monitor support)
* USBx2 (2 USB ports for bluetooth, external hard drive, etc, plus included USB extenders)
* Radio jack (Connects to radio antenna)
* Purple “RR+” and “RR-”: Connect to rear-right car speakers (from monitor).
* Green “RL+” and “RL-”: Connect to rear-left car speakers (from monitor).
* Grey “FR+” and “FR-”: Connect to front-right car speakers (from monitor).
* White “FL+” and “FL-”: Connect to front-left car speakers (from monitor).
* Red "Accessory" wire (lets the T3 know when the car is on so it can wake up)
* Black "Ground" wire
* Blue ANTENNA+ (Powered antenna control)
* Orange ILL (Illumination) (lets the monitor know when the headlights are on so it can automatically dim)
* AMP ON (lets the deck know if there's an external amp)
* White BACK (lets the system know when you're backing up so it can automatically switch to rearview)
* Green HAND BRAKE (Connects to the parking brake; allows Streetdeck to know when it's safe to use certain features. Not connecting this can be illegal in some states)

There's some duplication in there... for example, I'm not sure what all the different antenna cables are. But this should give you a general idea.

There are 18 active THREADS on the aptera forums discussing Streetdeck......Not a single one on Centrafuse.............

Has anybody seen the set of Streetdeck videos on Youtube? They have a Streetdeck music store where it identifies songs from say XM radio...then takes you to an area where you can buy it and download the album art.

If you record from XM, it knows the song and stuff, so it seems that would be a logical "next step". I'll have to check them out!

I misheard it...its actually an ambient sound recorder. So it uses the microphone to record the music being played by...the car next to you...then identifies the song and takes you to the place to buy it...

Not sure how practical that is...but its a sorta cool

Well, that's all the "good news" I feel like searching for tonight. That aptera is pretty cool, but not sure about the "marketability" of a car like that. Who knows.

Ya'll have a good night now!

If you buy a car the Manufacturer or their reseleers (usually dealers) are still liable for support, and service for things that fail (wear and tear excepted). Also if the dealer promises that something which is not available at the moment will be added later, then they should provide it.

If one business buys another business they take on all the liabilities of the company they have bought unless it is stipulated in the purchase agreement that the original company will still look after that.

please compare apples to apples in future.

fyi - every single article you linked to is nothing new. In fact, I'd say it's about a year old on most of those.

The one voice thing has been 6-8 months in the works.

The Intel bike was posted on the Mp3Car front page for a LONG time. It was an OCC chopper from months ago:
http://www.mp3car.com/index.php/MP3Car.com-News/

I just want to stress that these aren't new news articles.

I was eating an apple when I wrote it.

It wasn't a comparison, it was an analogy. Software can completely be changed with a few command lines. Thus changing completely, the purchased item. Especially if you are working with possible third party dongles, website plugins, digital mods, etc.

I am betting that to be safe, everything was put on hold for a "short time", then things went wierd.

Wow....great!

And I bet if you go back 6 months, you will see where I posted about one voice plugin and the videos on youtube. What you won't find is the annual report of them telling their stockholders they will start beta testing this month (internally or...?) and be released for $30 in July. Originally it was going in their main software and sell for around $180. At least that is what their people told me. Yeah, I've been following it pretty closely.

The Intel bike wouldn't be posted in a business section YESTERDAY if everything fell apart. Timing and new information was the issue, not the articles themselves.

No "stress" on the Aptera? Wow....interesting......that was the largest post I had. Just the exclusion in this response could cause some major speculation! The point being.......when everyone KNOWS you have insider information about what is going on, it's probably not the best idea in the world to get into discussions of what is going on.

Edit: I checked, and it hasn't been 6 months for me. I officially started following (and talking to) One Voice people 5 months and 24 days ago (October 31st). Think I should be more accurate in my posts.
