Many of you have expressed concerns about the future of StreetDeck. We have not given up on StreetDeck. We continue to sell and promote StreetDeck as well as invest a substantial amount of resources to support StreetDeck’s growth and expansion. Not all of these investments and status reports are public for many reasons.
We are going home to our families for the weekend but Mp3car along with the god_of_CPU will have more news for you next week about the continued growth, progress, and support of our StreetDeck software.
I hate to say it, but that was pretty much a non-statement.
I'd like to see some of these resources, or at least the fruit of these resources, such as the release of HD radio for SD, the release of a working bluetooth phone effort for SD, etc...
I'll continue waiting, and when people ask, I will continue to non-recommend SD, at least until things change.

Well, what I got out of it is yes, they will continue with streetdeck. Everything else is just "business as usual". But it does go to show how if a product is good, but service and support is bad, people won't like it. Bet growth would have been exponentional, even if the product was EXACTLY THE SAME as it is now, if they would have just hired someone to do nothing more than apeaze people (Yes, we will get right on that!). Made enough extra to hire new programmers, and been well on their way to "Microsoft" success. But try and TELL Them that? You better have your cross and nails ready.
I gave up waiting for HD radio. Just tell people my car has everything, including cable TV and showtime, but doesn't have am/fm radio. Makes them laugh, so it's all good.

WOW ummmm.. WOW did I say WOW.. Thanks for the Laugh
I don't mean to be rude but this response posted by Fiberoptic was not only comical it was dismissive.

Are kidding I'm still laughing, the comments made here were not being made as idle chit chat they are out of pure frustration.

Apparently NOT unless appreciation of feedback is shown by not responding in the StreetDeck forums for over 1 month. As well as no substantial change SD in close to 1 year.

No one would have expressed any concerns had SD simply hmmm.. let me think POSTED in their own forums in the past month.

That much is VERY obvious

I'm happy you are all going home to your families but ummmmm..... what does that have to do with anything? I plan on petting a kitten and possibly kicking a puppy this weekend (just thought I'd share). Maybe just maybe you should have gone home for the weekend along with the god_of_CPU and posted something more relevant on monday
Your response was even worse than the final episode of the Sopranos
Honestly it would have been more amusing and helpfull if you just posted...
"Statement from StreetDeck Commning soon"
"or started your post with the words WE ARE SORRY
"or even started your post with a "Knock, Knock" joke.
"Lets see Knock Knock"
Who's there?
Apparently not StreetDeck

Agreed. I do appreciate the communication, but there was really no new information there.
Most importantly, there weren't any comments addressing the lack of response to support inquiries for the past six weeks...which is why this thread was started in the first place. I still think something's afoot.
Looks like we're waiting again...'til next week.

Has anyone let the BBB know what they think of streetdeck/mp3car? File a complaint here: https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/GetStarted.aspx
What a surprise, they have an unsatisfactory rating due to their failure to respond to a complaint.

_________
Streetdeck.com, About us.....
StreetDeck.com was created in 2005 by the Mp3Car, Inc team. (est. 1996) Our mission is to create the best, safest in-car computing experience in the world. The StreetDeck software, a product of academic research and over four years of development, is the best open car-computing platform in existence. With it's innovative user interface, StreetDeck allows the driver to access digital media, hands-free mobile telephony, and navigation while keeping their eyes on the road. More and more people are installing computers to replace the functions of their car stereo system. However, there are unique challenges to getting a computer to work seamlessly in a car.

Now wait a second......let's be fair here.
Streetdeck the software? Love it. Better than any other front end out there.
Streetdeck the company? A few spoiled hobbiest that don't have a clue how to be a real business. Get upset when you don't rave over their brilliance and scowl at any possible criticism.
Streetdeck the creators? See above and add ego.
Bottom line is, in some ways, I would like to see MP3Car lose Streetdeck. Yes, that is what would happen. Streetdeck would not disappear, it is too good at what it does. And because of that, there are others out there that would love to own the rights. People that understand the following:
Bad Product, Bad Service, Bad Support:
No customers
Good product, Bad Service, Bad support:
Me. I'm technical enough to fumble through and get it working, but not only would I not recommend the product, I would suggest that no one else buy it.
Good product, good service, bad support:
Me and possibly a friend that was technical. Still discourage everyone else.
Good product, good service, good support:
Me, my friends, my family, anyone on the street.
See why I say exponential sales? The product does work good enough for recommendation now. But it would be a cold day in hades before I would put my reputation on the line by doing so.

Not to say the gripes aren't unfounded danielkh.....I'm glad I didn't spend money to purchase all these problems but maybe they will turn it around.....and nobody better start a "Pathos must work for Streetdeck because he is too optimistic" thread either

You know what I have found? Upgrades are the problems (ok, in all fairness, APPEAR to be the problem). I went through upgrade after upgrade and had problems show up and then more problems. Until streetdeck wouldn't even run for more than 10 minutes and shut down. Tried reverting to older versions and the next time it started up, it would automatically reload itself and fail. Even uninstalling and reinstalling the program wouldn't help. Was just about to give up and try roadrunner again, but then......
Reformatted for other reasons and went straight to the latest and greatest and have not had a single problem. Absolutely love it! I think they have some (a) brilliant programmer, but either (t)he(y) is too arrogant to listen to anyone else, or they are too understaffed for a good serious quality control. Both are indicative of problems B and C listed above in my last post. The software guru's that I worked with? They got so arrogant that they sent out a lot of blank CD's. Why? Because it was "beneath them" to check the disks to see if the software actually copied. That was embarrassing as heck.
No matter what is really going on there? We will come out the winner in the long run.

I give them serious credit for actually posting as they said they would. Maybe no substance, but it was something. When you are expecting a technician out to your house for service, if they call and say they are running behind but will be there soon, that is a heck of a lot better than simply not calling. Hopefully they will have some substance in the next few days. Maybe it will be ditched, maybe they are up for sale. This could turn out very well. Maybe a deal in the works like Ford has with Sync/Microsoft. Who knows, luckily, I have a couple weeks to wait. Otherwise, I will simply use Vista media canter, and streets and trips for now until a good frontend shows itself. CR is ok, but definetly needs a lot of work still. RR is great, but time consuming. My time is worth way more than the headache.

Keep in mind, even if they took SD and threw it in the trash (very unlikely), it would still continue to function on your computer. Or were you the one still waiting for registration code?
