TV on StreetDeck

Yes, I am still sticking with SD for now.

And yes, I have read the threads where it states that TV is either not a priority for SD, or all support for the TV module has been removed.

However, I have an HDTV PCI card in my CarPC now, made by Pinnacle. It has good reception, and uses an external WinXP program to switch channels, etc... Certainly, I have this external app in my SD externals apps, and can launch it just fine through that. However, is there a way to make it, either through skin configuration, or via a digital mod, so that the TV module can interface with this?

I had a similar idea a while back, but I never took time to persue it. Definately interested in doing something similar though.

No idea about SD but there used to be or still is a program called beyond tv. It worked in a browser and was skinable although should be pretty usable as is. Assuming SD can show internet ok and with a tweak to the skin it should look pretty integrated if there aren't any other choices.

Since streetdeck has the external apps, that really doesnt provide any new functionality (assuming that SD had IE, it doesnt). Although it may be easier to hack that program since it runs in a browser environment.

I think what Caelric is getting at is the ability to replace the built in TV functionality with whichever tuner we wish to use and have it accessible from the TV button.

Correct.

Also, it's not internet TV, I actually have a HDTV tuner and antenna.

Well, I figured out a workaround.

A made a button on the SD interface, labeled "TV", which launches external app preset 0. Then, I made sure my HDTV program is an external app, and set it to preset 0.

So, when I press my "TV" button, instead of launching SD's non-existent TV module, it launches my HDTV external app. Not as pretty as something within SD, but usable.
