SD Poll about not being supported

Well I'd hate to say it, but I don't think that SD should continue to stay in a section that leads people to believe it is a supported front end. Points made in the first link are valid that it should be moved to the sub-section of no longer being supported, at least until any evidence is given to determine what the future holds.

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/mp3c...ar-forums.html

As the current user base knows the low-down of where we stand with the product, This is extremely important for potential buyers or users of a Front End. They should know that SD has not been supported and shouldn't have to read every post to determine this current state.

Lets look at the facts where they stand to determine if this is a logical move:

#1) FO points out in this thread that the phone no longer rings to MP3car

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/mp3c...t-problem.html

#2) Contact phone number has been removed from mp3car contact us page

#3) Management list on SD.com has been updated to show only Rob and Chuck
#4) Chuck hasn't logged on this forum since 4-22-08 which only leaves a couple scenarios which one being he jumped ship and his name is only on the websites as not to create anarchy in the community.
#5) New potential buyers should know that this product has not been supported and is still not supported by the staff before purchasing it.
#6) Since MP3car and SD are seperate entities, as they made clear not us and MP3car is the host of this forum, there should be no issue from them for this move. They also sell CF which we were told is to create a diverse business and promote competiton which is currently supported on this forum. So this makes SD only ANOTHER front end product that is one of many products in inventory.
#7) As we all know, support from the staff hasn't been given on this product for some months now.
#8) No update has been issued on where the future of this product is going. Whether good or bad.
#9) In past posts by FO saying that SD is continued to be developed and shows no evidence at this time of this developement, and has previously said that support hasn't been dealt with in a "timely manner" which was in reality "none" is deception and should not be masked on this forum.

Potential hobbies should have a clear understanding of what they are buying when it comes to Front Ends. If they want a community support staff, then RR should be on their A list.

Like I said, SD should not be considered at this time a supported Front End and should be moved to the "no longer supported" for the benefit of new potential hobbiest having the presently clear facts.

I don't know how to make a poll on this thread so I didn't. Anyone wants to add a poll take care of business, you can see where I stand and I think others will agree that this forum is to provide truthfull information and discussion for hobbiest, not false advertising.

agreed, so sad to see a group of people with a good product just crap all over its customer base. The same customers who spent decent money on their software. The least you can do is man up and tell us what we already know, the SD team has abandoned the software...stop making it seem as if another company is taking over. period.

I hate to bring up this point, but the software isn't "truely" abandoned. Only the support side. After the computer musical chairs I played recently, I needed to transfer the license. Took less than 24 hours to get the new codes. Again, I'm not a lawyer, but I think in order for it to be declared abandoned from a legal sense, it would have to be unusable.

They're still sleezeball scumbags for going this long without resolution, but I'm just not sure there is a legal stand here. As I stated somewhere else, all the "future releases" fall under speculation and are not binding, I don't think.

True, but there is a definition of "soon" somewhere. Bluetooth and Traffic were listed as "coming soon" for 2+ years. Also another perk was the free updates, which have gone away. If your looking at SD as a new purchase in my mind it's truely is abandoned because there are no updates, there is no technical support, the listed features don't work correctly and you have no idea if there is a fix in site. So yes they still provide and transfer licenses but that by no means it's an active software. If anything it would annoy me even more because then it just further proves our initial finding where they are still around, they are reading this and "choose" to sit back and watch as we all complain.

I don't know. Maybe there is a legal stand there. Personally, I've pretty much switched to Roadrunner. Heck, I haven't even opened SD in days. Been working through getting everything to work together. Figure I will just go with that until 1) They come out of their holes and catch up or 2) I get my visteon digimon.

I'm considering this "No Longer Supported" May not be abandoned forever, but for now we can grab our balls and kiss this baby goodbye, becuase the train has left.

Maybe by moving it to the no longer supported section it will give them a reason to get off the high horse and make an initiative to come back down to support land.

That makes no sense. If the program was still ACTIVELY supported we would have some sort of pulse coming from the SD team. Not to mention a bug in the bug report hasn't been addressed since March, so how could you make a statement like that. I don't care what you saw at a silly little car meet. If it aint' posted here it aint ****e

Semantics......what Sonic means, I believe, is the program is moving forward in development (supported from programmer standpoint), which I never doubted. What we are talking about is some form of online or phone based tech support (customer base).
