Comparison to Centrafuse?
Have been using the demo of Centrafuse for a week now and like it. Only issue is it doesn't have a progress bar when playing music.
Just saw a demo for Streetdeck 2 on youtube and WOW! Are all those navigation/satellite maps stored in the program or do I need internet access to make it work?
Also, if you have used Centrafuse also, could you offer a comparison? Thanks.

I may be biased, as I work for Centrafuse, but our version 3 is planned to have a progress slider also.

Download the demo for Streetdeck 2 (with maps) its a very very good nav program. You can simulate routs from home (when your hooked up to your house WiFi) this will permanently grab all the sat images from the simulated rout. This is what I did. It looks amazing and people are always asking "what kind of nav is that?".
The slider bar works very well but is not practical while driving. Its good to have though.
The best part is that StreetDeck 2 takes 2-3 seconds to load from desktop launch compared to Centrafuse 2 taking 19 seconds (with no plug-ins) on my 1.6 gig Atom duel-core carputer.

too many broken promises with centrafuse. Im not sure about streedeck because i havent tried it. But when you consider that you have to pay for CF there are a few too many let downs, and the answer is always "we are working on it". You wouldnt get this response from someone in a shop selling something. And then instead of addressing peoples issues with CF2 they are just going to release CF3 and charge again. You can understand why people crack and torrent it.... not sure i will be paying for CF3 this time

Centrafuse 3 is coming out towards the end of summer. The new skin engine now has a progress bars, and tons of other features.
I have used Street Deck 1 and I hated it. Never tried SD2 since my system is so geared around CF2 and all its advanced features.

What broken promises are you talking about? Phone situation has now been fixed, and that was pretty much the only issue. CF3 will now have the ability to use almost all NAV softwares and embed them perfectly into CF, so we aren't reliant on Destinator anymore, which was good, just had old maps. Now I know FLUX made a mistake with that brief period of not answering people, but Street Deck did the same thing times 1000 with street deck 1. The literally vanished and no one could get support at all for what, almost a year? Flux admits it made a mistake, in fact they said sorry to me personally. CF2 has now been fixed as a result of the silence period and CF3 will get a nice healthy launch. Any user that owns CF2 will only have to pay a modest upgrade fee as with 100% of all other softwares from other companies.

SD:
SD Navigation is beautiful. (although the voices are awful) I really like the front end as a whole however there are several let downs which will force me to go to other front ends
It is absolutely brutal that features are disabled while driving and that there is no way around it. The complete lack of bluetooth support is also incredibly disappointing.
CF:
CF has done lots of the little things right. I really like having the one button click to automatically tether via bluetooth where in SD I am forced to run an external app and then dial. The built in browser and weather are bonuses.
The let down here is obviously the Nav and even using IGuidance feels ugly now after having used SD.

Phone situation has been fixed?? so inbox works for you does it? And the slider was meant to be an update to version 2, check old forums to see for yourself. Whilst it is good for them to progress and release new versions, i would have liked some of the promises of new updates to 2 being followed through.
Afterall microsoft have released 2 new OS's since XP, but currently still release updates for xp as people are still using it and may not upgrade.
Just a shame that people who paid for CF2 and may not want CF3 will not be catered for anymore. I think this is the reason people go to torrent sites. I dont mind paying for something but dont like to think that people have more care for the money than the customer. I know its a business and if you dont make money you dont have a business, but at the same time a good business needs happy customers

Your talking about old news. Yea I was angry about the phone issues and FLUX fixed them. SD on the other hand, disappeared for almost a year, before they addressed anyone. You still haven't mentioned what promises they still haven't done yet. On the inbox situation, FLUX has no control, IVT is the one that keeps promising that feature, then pushing the updates back. Flux also decided to scrap their special stack of BlueSoliel and went with the normal one that can be downloaded off the IVT website. No more having to wait for a new special version to come out. I will upgrade to CF3, I voiced my concerns along with other users, and FLUX acted on them.
Also to talk about making customers happy? Did SD make people happy when they just vanished. No replies to anything, no updates at all!!!!! Then finally they come out with a few updates, then release SD2. Flux at least fixed most of the issues and is now moving onto CF3. They also didn't leave people waiting in the wind. Their time lines may not be perfect, but compared to the SD company, their time lines are like gold.

I'm a fan of CF but i do wish it had the pretty factor of SD. I WILL NOT sacrifice functionality for looks. I'm anxiously waiting for CF3.0. I really hate it when developers mention releases of new versions of software and then make u wait for months!! I want it now lol.. Anyway I probably won't switch to SD2 but i will try it just cause it looks cool

i've tried both and there are many ups and downs to both and we can argue about them all day long as you can do with ***ANY*** product for sale that has competition. BOTH are GREAT peices of software, you just need to pick which one works best for you with what you have, and also what you need.
This is what you need to do:
1) Find out what you need, ex: what type of nav, bluetooth, phone integration, teathering, movies, plugins (big one), load times, etc...
2) Try both peices of software out
3) Figure out which one works better with what you are looking for

This is true.
Test both, they each have free trial.

This is true...and the OP should try out both pieces of software. However, what he won't get from the trial is something that is being talked about on here; support.
It's a simple truth that Street Deck support literally disappeared for something like a year. If you got the software working on your own with your hardware setup...great. If not...too bad.
It's also true that FluxMedia tends to support "the next product". Right now, they're hard at work on CF 3.0...which is great and all, but EVERYONE (since CF 3.0 isn't available for download, even as a Beta) is still using CF 2. Unfortunately, when posting about suggestions and bugs on CF 2...we're getting the standard company line of "That will be fixed in CF 3.0".
These are the kinds of things you won't learn from using a trial of the software. Only those of us who actually use the software...and try to get support for that software...can give real insight into this part of the experience.

The phone issue was mainly the problem with CF2. Alot of the other issues, like with HD Radio are machine specific. CF2 works flawlessly for me now, except for the rear control enhancements, which was moved to CF3, I think CF 3.1, once 3.0 is known to work. CF3 is really getting close, BETA testers are already testing and suggesting fixes. I think with most software companies they have the means to have 2 different departments to support different versions of a software. FLUX doesn't have that luxury, they are a relatively small company. So I understand what they are doing.
