How to do voice commands?

I've been having touble finding info on this... checked all the docs, faqs, and searched the forum. I finally found that I can gesture an upside-down 'V' then speak a single command. But if I'm going to gesture, I might as well just gesture the command I want. Is there a more convenient way to make use of the voice recognition?

Yes, you can bind the "Toggle Voice Command" function to any other input you want. Its bound to the space bar by default. You have to activate voice input for it to work.

What I did was bought a mini usb wireless mouse and binded a right-click to the 'Toggle Voice Command'. So, everytime I pressed a right-click, SD will mute and "Speak Now" text would appear awaiting my voice command. Pretty cool. The only problem I have is that I get feedback from my mic when I crank up the volume. However, that's due to my mic location and not with SD.

Forgot the link but if you do a search for 'girder plugins' you'll find a link that has a bunch of plugins for all types of uses.

Why don't you just mute mic playback? SD would still hear the mic audio on the record line but it wouldn't be played over the speakers.

Yeah in Windows Volume Control, you want to mute the Microphone (only for Playback Settings) while having it selected as the recording device under Recording Settings.

In case you need a step-by-step:

-Open Volume Control
-Find your microphone volume control on the panel. If you can't find it, read below:

-Click the Options menu at the top, then click Properties
-With Playback selected, you should see Mic or Microphone in the list of volume controls. Make sure you place a checkmark next to it.
-Click OK. It should be in your panel of volume controls.

-Once you've found it, check the "Mute" button below it. This will prevent the microphone audio from being played over your speakers.
-Go back to Options > Properties
-Select "Recording" and make sure the microphone is selected
-Click ok and be sure the microphone has a checkmark called "Select" checked.

If you did that properly, SD should hear your commands but you should not.
