USB Hard Drive Support for Mappoint Data/MP3s

It seems that SD doesn't want to view my two 100GB USB external drives. They are slim type 2.5" drives and run off USB ports. When I browse for music, they don't show as external devices!

Also, will SD support storing the Mappoint Data on an external hard drive? I ask this because currently I run my CarPC off a Compact Flash 2GB card with TinyXP rev4 and want to keep it that way. I jsut don't have the room for GPS Map data for Mappoint2006.

Never tried it, but you should be able to install StreetDeck to a USB drive and it will put all the navigation data there.

Here was my workaround before I got my Endurastar drive. I was running a 2G CF card too.

Install the slim version of mappoint(no data). That takes up about 600 megs I think. Should be plenty of space on a 2gig card.
This installation will require the mappoint data disc. Just put an iso of the disc on your external drive and use Daemon Tools to load it. It will automatically load it on startup and mappoint will see it and work just fine.
If you don't have the drive plugged in, mappoint fails to load of course.
The solution worked pretty well for me.

Cool, now how about SD finding MP3 files on external USB drives? It won't let me browse out to them.

Did you go to the CD \ USB drives option under music options?

I go to Music/Options/External Media All my CD roms are listed and my MMC card reader shows my flash card, but no USB hard drives show up. THey are listed in My Computer as G:\ and H:\ but nothing shows in SD>
