How does SD handle power and shuting down?

Previous to using SD I could just turn the vehicle on in my garage (not started, just accessory) and play Fordo, Iguidance, etc. but if streetdeck is running the system weill go into shutdown mode in only a few seconds. If the engine is running SD stays on.

The quick answer is that the battery in the vehicle is weak, but it's not. As long as SD is not running I can still attach an external HD to the USB and let it copy for an hour easy. Another answer could be that SD is stressing the CPU therefore making my Opus shutdown as it recognizes the system is starving for power, once again it's not, I can run Delorme Topo in 3D without a problem and that program has got to be more stressfull than SD.

This is not really a problem because when I want to copy large files or install something I shut down SD anyways (just like before when using say Frodo) but it just makes me curious as to how SD handles power. For the record, I can setup SD to close the program rather than go into standby and it closes and I return to the desktop and then it could remain on for hours, or until I turn the ignition key off.

Thanks,

Troy

Whenever you hit the power button, or if using a shutdown controller, streetdeck will begin its shutdown sequence and perform the default shutdown operation after the specified timeout. You can configure this in shutdown settings.

I don't think you are understanding my question, what you are describing is a no brainer with any car computer. What I am saying is that with the vehicle on but not running the engine (accessory power) SD will not stay running, it goes into shutdown. No power switches have been touched nor has the PS received a signal to shutdown by Windows. If SD is not running, the computer stays on, as expected.

It's almost as if SD "knows" the engine is not running and goes into power protect mode?

Thanks,

Troy

Theres no other active power management in place that would do that. Its probably the amount of power your drawing. You can try it with -gdi and see if that lets it run longer.
