User Interface and manual Issues

Firstly, as a new owner of the software, I like it and think the price is reasonable. However, a few questions about the UI, and issues:

1. How does one simply 'pause' a song from the UI? I see that there is a keyboard command for it (CTRL - p) but it is not part of the button assignments for contolling play. I 'pause' songs a lot more than I want to 'stop' them. Having the 'PLAY' button switch to a 'PAUSE' button when a song is playing would be a reasonable saving of space on the control screen-- effectively the 'PLAY' button should really be a 'PLAY/PAUSE' button. IMO.

2. I have a 1GHz Apia motherboard. The applications responds reasonably enough, but it takes a long time (10-20 seconds) for the graphic symbols (e.g. the play buttons or the volume elements) to draw when these window shade screens are called up the first time through after launching the application. I have tried different update rates (15fps through to 100 fps) with no affect.

3. The current posted manual is a bit out of date. Manuals always lag the application and never seem to be important enough to spend time on, but I would encourage the developers to spend some cycles on the manual, particularly early on as it will answer a lot of questions for the use base. An online 'living' manual would be better than a published PDF. Perhaps a WIKI manual, where you would let us users help document the application is a good idea.

I have not tried out the navigation section yet as I am still waiting for the DVD.

1)Gesture a straight line down (by default).
You can also bring up the media control bar at the bottom which has play, pause, stop, and track skip buttons.
Alternatively, you can skin your own setup to have the buttons where you'd like.

2) A 1Ghz EPIA board is going to suck with SD, primarily because of the ****ty onboard graphics chipset (S3 Unichrome).

2. If you run with -nodelayload StreetDeck will load all textures before starting.

DP,

Thanks for the pointers...however the media control bar does not have 'pause' - and I did find the gesture. Just seems that the control bar should have PLAY/PAUSE rather than just PLAY.

The EPIA runs fairly well with the graphics...it is only in the initial builds that I am disappointed. I will try GOC's switch idea once I can get 1.0.5.2 to load! (I 'upgraded' today and now SD will not load at all...a different thread...)

Thanks GOC.

I did create my own skin mod to change the 'Play' button to a 'Play/puase' but after haing used the system for awhile, I use the gestures pretty much exclusively - can't remember the last time I brought up the overlay...

I wish the website would list when the manual is updated, either in the name of the file (e.g. by date) or in the text for the download. The manual is pretty stale and needs a fair upgrade...
