Album Art Revisited (PAINFUL!)

Ok, so this weekend I spent an unreal amount of time going through my mp3s (even purchased a couple of programs to assist me) in order to fix titles, albums, artists, and most of all, album art. I ran every song individually in WMP in order to ensure that every song had album art, but I copied it to an external hard drive, deleted my current music and index and installed it on Streetdeck. After Streetdeck was done, I played the music and sure enough, all the songs had album art, BUT it was all distorted album art (and most of them looked like the same distorted art). SOOO, I plug the external drive in at work and play the music and guess what? Yup, that's right, perfect album art! So what do I need to do in order to make my pathetic waste of an entire weekend worth my while?

I shutdown Streetdeck when I got to work and will reboot and see if anything has changed when I restart. My next attempt is going to be to copy all of the music directly to the _indexed folder and hit reindex. Any thoughts?

Can you send me:
1. A screen shot of the album art in StreetDeck
2. One of the album art files giving the issue

Reindexing probably won't help.

My best guess is either some kind of video memory corruption or a strange file format.

Im looking for a decent program to fix all my id3 tags. most are good some are bad. i have soo much damn music over 1tb but i wont roll with that in the car what progs are the best for massive amounts of music

I used FixTunes (google it). $24 - pretty decent - it assisted in fixing about 75% of my collection, but I don't know if there is a magical product that can fix 100% (if anyone knows, please let me know too). FixTunes also takes a long time after you have identified to run a fix. I have tried microsofts free tool "Album Art Fixer", but that tries to fix "Album Artists" which 99% of all music DOES NOT contain; however it does let you add custom album art, but with a large collection, it would take years to complete.

Your guess is correct - restart, reindexing, etc. did not work. I will try copying my files directly to the "My Music" folder on the way home just as one last ditch effort and have SD reindex again.

Should've done my homework first: CNET rated Mp3nity the best.

Wow the program works awsome!!!!!!!!! it pretty much grabs all album art and id3 tags on a test 10 gig worth of music i setup to test nuts

Edit nevermind made a mistake ****ed my album art to a single pic ugh!

Evidently my problem (and the problem with all these programs) is that they embed the images into the mp3s. The way around this is to use the mini-app that is located here in this forum BUT, I noticed that it fails on certain mp3s (in my case 10 specifically in my car) and you have to either delete or rename these. Is there a way to avoid this AV and also, is there a way to run this mini-app against a different directory so it doesn't have to be done in the car (this is a serious pain in the butt)? The problem is at home, SD is running on the primary drive; however all my music is located on my plugable media drive (that consequently never actually gets removed). Does this mini-app follow the media path so it would be as simple as just changing the music directory for SD?

The album art utility has been updated. It now includes a -browse command line parameter that can be used to specify a different directory if you have streetdeck installed.

Thanks, this worked... Wow, I think I will have 100% of the album art for my music collection now (which is really stupid if you think about it because I probably only realistically like about 10% of it

)
