Did u use EVDO connection through ur phone or pcmcia card? If through the phone, was it connected to the computer through the usb or the bluetooth?
Bluetooth can be a bottleneck sometimes for EVDO phones i'm heard..

Interesting addition. Cant wait to try this out when the CarPC is done. It was one of the additions I was thinking Streetdeck needed. Now if you could just put in a GPS driving log (logs routes/distances/miles traveled to submit mileage reports for corporate reimbursement), I would be perfectly set. Great software, keep up the great work.

Oh.. This is cool
Do i need to be online at all time when using the virtual earth? Didnt hear what he said about that.
And why is it shaking. Im getting kind of dizzy. But thats something i'l have to learn how to deal with

Yes, the limitation is you do have to be online for it to work. It will cache the images, but the only way it does that is if you first drive nearby and download the images for the area first.
The shaking is mostly from the way the GPS data is recieved, however, the video is recorded from StreetDeck running a simulation data file that runs at 3 times the speed it would in real life. You probably won't really notice the shaking nearly as much in a real world enviornment when it runs at the normal speed.

can virtual earth be purchased or downloaded so we don't need to be online?
kinda hard to do that (broadband anyway) in a car driving around the country, eh?
or is there just waaaay too much data for a local pc to hold?
i saw the sdk could be downloaded but doubt that contains imagery...

No, it can't be purchased. The data is a couple of terrabytes so it wouldn't be practical anyway.
You can get an internet connection anywhere you can get cell phone access. I have yet to drive anywhere where my EVDO connection didn't get at least a marginal connection which is really all that is needed to download a few images. Cellular internet is still kinda pricy yet, but it works great for this purpose.
A number of new features that are going to be added to StreetDeck will require an internet connection too. This is just the first.

So you have an EVDO router in our car, SWEET! Is it connected to the PC through Ethernet or 802.11g and do you use the samsung phone or a card for WAN interface?
