StreetDeck 1.0.5.6 BETA release

This update will update version 1.0.4.1 or greater.

This is a BETA release. Some of the new features will be unstable. This release is a quick update to the 1.0.5.5 release to fix the major updating issues to it. You can use the built in restore functions to restore to your previous version if you have problems.

A stable release will be posted within 2 weeks. If you encounter a problem with this release, please send your log along with a description of your problem to chuck@mp3car.com. Logs can contain sensitive information like file locations and user names, it is not recommended that you post them to the forum.

1.0.5.6 - Download Here

Texture cache files are automatically deleted if they are out of date
Updater automatically deletes all texture cache files for all installed skins
Older skins will import any missing overlays and modules from the Default skin when they are used

If I begin working on a skin with this release could I potentially run into problems where it will not transition to the new "stable" release? Would hate to go through all that effort skinning just to redo it all over again.

No, you shouldn't run into problems. The skins should be fowards compatible. This was always the goal, but not always the end result.

1.0.5.5 and 1.0.5.6 addressed some of the issues with this. Specifically, StreetDeck will now copy any new features in the default skin and merge them with whatever skin you are running that was designed on a previous version so that your old skin will be able to use the new features even though it was not explicitly skinned for it.

MapPoint Update?

Was there an update to MapPoint in the 1.0.5.5/1.0.5.6 update? I was using the official version (from the CD) and the streets in my neighborhood showed up on the navigation screen. Since updating to 1.0.5.6 when I enter the navigation screen from my driveway I see the image of my neighborhood streets then the screen is redrawn with a generic camera with a line through it (no cameras allowed?) I assume this means that MapPoint doesn't have a map for my neighborhood. As I drive with the navigation screen displayed I do get to an area where the map is properly displayed. I live in a new neighborhood so it wouldn't be surprising that there are no maps available except that they displayed in the original version!

I have tried different zoom levels and I can see the proper map display for a moment and they be redrawn by the no cameras icon (I haven't tried ALL zoom levels.) I have even seen the Microsoft Earth satellite map temporarily and then it is erased as well.

I do have MapPoint 2006 still installed on the system in case that makes a difference.

Any suggestions?

You have the virtual earth overlay on which is covering up the maps. Just press the virtual earth button to show only the underlying mappoint maps.
