close to 48 hours to index music????

I am running 5.8 and recently added about 500 songs to my music library. I use a portable hard drive so i can simply takeit in the house to update and such. So I need to reindex my files so SD can rocognize the new files. however, after 10 hours of the comeputer being on all it has done is delete the old index, and manage to get to 21% indexed. So i have 79% to go. why is it taking so long? I have 7363 music files. Why is it so slow??? I do not want to have leave my car on for approx 48-50 hours only to get my music files in place. The cpu usage is at 100% and im running an AMD 2ghz cpu and 1 gig of ram so it shouldnt be a problem with the computer.

Any help???

Use media player to index your music and not streetdeck if that the case

ok, i got WMP to index all my music. Opened up SD and selected to display by artist. went to a band and when i selected it, it loaded all the music by that artist and started playing. well that is wrong, its supposed to display by album and ask if i want to load by files or folders. so i deleted what was in the library and tried to reload again, well now it only detects 25 songs. the music is still all there on the HD. I rebooted and again, WMP only detected 25 songs. so now im back to square one. SD is reindexing right now but has to start over. it was at 27% which it took about 10 hours to get there.

Im so damn frustrated!

Anyone else have any ideas??

Thanks! cause i need them!!

i have never seen that happen usually it has album and stuff like that something is wrong. You best bet is reinstall streetdeck. I had some problem with 1.0.5.8 also with my navigation. I had to reinstall the whole thing. I mean delete everything and install from scratch and that fix my problem. Streetdeck even loads faster now.

BUG

yeah well im not deleating SD. I did that a month ago and lost all my addresses. I have fianally gotten them reentered and im just not doing that again... Thats like reentering all your cell phone contacts into your cell phone by hand and from memory.

There has got to be a way. I just brought my HD into my house and indexed all my music files into my home computer and it did so in less than 5 mins. so it is a prob with SD. I can confirm however that when you have the "Queue" button selected that it will not actually load the selection. it does this on both of my computers.

I did finally get WMP to see/add all my files in my car so i guess that prob can be considered to be solved.

The Q music thing appears to be a problem. I also have a log here using the -verbose command line.
