Nav Annoyance: Map spins while stopped!

At least 50% of the time when I have the nav screen displayed and I come to a stop the map will rotate up to 90 degrees as though I am turning a corner although the car is not moving at all! When I begin to move again the map returns to the correct orientation and everything works as expected.

I suspect that this is something between the GPS receiver and MapPoint (thus beyond Streetdeck's ability to fix) but I was hoping that at least someone else experiences the same thing and may even have a solution.

Steve

You can't do anything about that.
It has to do with the way it plots coordinates from multiple satellites.

You're doing everything just fine. If you want it to stop, drive around a bit.

Yeha, I get that on occasion as well, but I think it has to do with the satellite connections...if you have weak signals it can't determine which direction you are facing.

Might it then be possible to infuse a digital magnetic compass into the system which doesn't rely on satelites to determine it's direction.

Your receiver isn't as accurate as others on the market if this happens and you have it mounted stable and oriented correctly.

Make sure it's level with the chip facing as vertically as possible to avoid it picking up reflected signal.

My old Earthmate adapter did this but others I've tried afterwards didn't.
