Angry Computer resets on startup

My computer resets when I start streetdeck. First I thought it was my hardware but after thorough testing nothing was wrong there.

I can not start sd in normal mode or debug mode. In low pref mode it works but it crashes when I start navigation. I have the impression (I goes very fast) that in the other modes the computer also reset when the message appears "initializing navigation"

Have reset bios to default, reinstalled sd and mappoint 2006. No result.

What is going wrong? Is there a log or something???

run streetdeck with the -GDI option and see what it does

I think it is a video card driver that is acting up

if your running XP it might be doing a bluescreen/reset.

Stop this from happening you need to -

Right Click My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings then uncheck the "Automatically Restart" check box in the System Failure boxout.

If it is bluescreening you should now be presented with a screen filled with hex dumps, something in there might give you a hint as to whats playing up.

For error logs there should be one here

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer - Application is probably the most likely suspect.

but its far easier to unplu things one at a time and reboot.

I was thinking thw cold weather (-5C) was affecting my HD, but it was actually the B245 USB 802.11b stick. Simply leave the related hardware disconnected until system has started, or plug in only when needed.

Problem sorted for me in under 5 minutes

I prefer to treat the disease not the symptoms, when things like that happen its usually for a reason.

strange error

I have tried to start up with -GDI and it works. Well It's not resetting. When I push "navigation" I get error "incorrect parameter"

So if the PC is cold: Get error when trying to navigate

When PC is warm: Resets when starting sd unless you start with -GDI but then you still get the "incorrect parameter" error.

Lightbulb solved some of the problem

The computer was rebooting every time I started sd. The solution was the screen. I was testing sd on my desk with a old crt. When the pc was warm and I then started sd (the graf engine seems to draw a lot of power) the power supply (atx-m2) dips en resets the computer. I read somewhere to change the capacitor #c35 from 20 to 10 nf? Maybe I will try this.

The second problem stays I can not start navigation. It seems sd want to start navigation north America but I have installed Europe (since I live there its more convenient ) Does anyone know how to change this?

The last line of the log reads:
INFO: MessageBox:
Initializing...
Please wait while navigation initializes.
WARNING: CNAVController::InitializeMappoint_Help - NewMap - MapPoint North America can't run because it is not registered on your system, or it can't be found. Install MapPoint North America and try again.
