Change Title of Sub-Forum

*EDIT: the Second option should have read "I disagree, The "Car Audio" title should NOT be changed.
* I didnt have any options to edit the poll choices. Can I get a mulligan on that one?

This is just an open-ended question to all of you, possible a reqest to the admin's. I understand that everybody who considers or is into the carpcs uses products for general car audio. But I figured that the Sub-Forum title of "Car Audio" could be changed to something else, if it is ever possible, to reduce the occasional newb with no plans to implement a carpc. Don't get me wrong, it's just my opinion being a frequent member of this forum, but some would be newbs are asking questions about general Car Audio, and they dont understand that this forum is dedicated to Carpcs.

I am willing to help any newb with any questions whenever I can, but some are asking to be spoon fed solutions that has nothing to do with Car computing. When they do post they are eventually greeted with the usuall, "This site is dedicated to Carpcs, please see another forum dedicated to general car audio..." Where afterwards, they never contribute nor do they return.

You may or may not agree with me. You may even think I'm a "Dick" for trying. But I'm sitting at work, and I have nothing better to do.

So I'm making this poll to see if anyone agrees with me or not.

*If you agree with me, post a suggestion on what the title should be, then we can make another poll later.

It's a sub forum title, it's not the site title.

From my experiences, the people that come to this site asking specific car audio questions do so in the newbie section or general questions, etc. Not in Car Audio. I end up moving those questions to the Car Audio forum.

We don't mind people coming to this forum to ask car audio specific questions. My comments to those individuals are made because they have posted their car audio specific questions in the general area, not in the car audio forum.

by the way - your poll is very misleading...might want to go back and reread your poll options.

If this is going to be effective then you need offer suggestions rather then just saying change is need without offering any alternatives.

I don't think the title of the Car Audio sub-forum needs to be changed. However, I do agree that there seems to be a consistent flow of initial posts/threads that have nothing to do with Carputers. Whilst this has probably always been the case, for me it's become far more evident since the introduction of the fantastic/addictive "New Posts: Live" feature. I'm hooked on that page, and it makes you realize just how often the likes of DarquePervert, RedGTiVR6, and others address these types of posts and move threads around, etc.

If I was to make a suggestion to attempt to reduce these posts, it would be to slightly change the MP3Car banner/graphic at the very top of this website. Perhpas some text could be added such as "Dedicated to In-Car Computer Installations" (or something similar / more elaborate).

I must admit though, I'm pretty torn. Part of me thinks these posts are annoying and clogging up the system etc, but part of me gets a kick out of some of the humourous responses that they draw out of our fellow members !!

Cheers,

Long.1

IMO, as long as they are kept to the Car Audio sub forum, it's fine. Now, if these guys start to get irritated that they aren't getting any help...then it's a different story.

That's why I always try and let them know the purpose of these forums but don't bother deleting the threads.

Hey zip, As I mentioned in my OP, I was wondering if there were a possibility that there could be a change of the title of the "Car Audio" sub-forum, if so, if/when enough people voted for a change then at that time there could be another thread to vote for such a change.

At the time I started this thread, I was wondering what other people thought of the idea, and what there input, if any, would be.

Although, a bit of an oversight, I forgot to prompt the Admin's the question if such a change is ever possible in the OP.
