Question Classifieds Section

What is up with it? Are we switching back to the old way or is something just broken?

I think the people trying to sell things in it are broke, that's why they are selling things.

It's the same system as before, just a new feature that the developer has added based on a request.

Click on one of the links...you'll see...

I guess what I mean is the new threads being created in the classified section on the forum. These are not in the format of the "system" but are just regular posts. Maybe I am missing something.

I found out your problem. If a user clicks "New Thread" it creates a new plain thread. Which is what users are now doing, since the "system" isn't easy to find ("http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/vbclassified.php"). If you use the "Submit New Ad" link, it creates a thread that redirects to the classified ad.

What needs done, is the "New Thread" link needs changed to the "Submit New Ad" link. Which I don't know how easy that will be to do. Seems like it would require some hard coding.

Maybe you could disable creating new threads in the "classified" forum, then add a redirect thread to "submit New Ad" link and sticky it to the top.

Yeup - that's a problem!

I've been scatterbrained lately. Need to disable new thread creations.

Thanks!

New Thread Button Link changed. It's a modification I have installed, initially for the StreetDeck bug reporting forums that allows me to direct where the new thread button directs users.

I'll try to remember to keep an eye on the currently open threads in there and once they are finished, I'll move them to the archives.

Ok - so something isn't working 100%.

All new ads will create a new link like a thread and this is working as it should.

I've tried running a script that should create 'threads' (links) to the currently open items in the classifieds, but it's not working.

I've sent in for help to the developer that has designed the classified system and I should hear back today. It's not a killer issue as there's plenty of ways to get to the classifieds, it's just not 100% how I want it.

Thanks for continuing to follow-up with me. Since moving into our new house, I've been a bit scattered...and now I'm getting high on paint fumes.

This was just due to the server glitch.

Should be all fine now.
