Forum Slowness
Ok, I'm not sure if others are having the same issue as me, but the mp3car forums are extremely slow for me. It takes a long time to load pages and sometimes I get connection timeout errors. Everyone tells me its my computer, its my router setting, I have to configure my machine the right way.
What I don't understand is, why do I only have the problem with the mp3car forums and not other forums or other sites. So I decided to make a video of how slow it really is for me to load pages on this forum.
Does anyone else experience problems like this? Let me know what you think.
First video, showing the amount of times it takes to load pages on this site.
http://media.putfile.com/slow1043
Second video, compare mp3car forums, with espn.com, which loads many images and ad's on there site and then comparing with another forums that uses vBulletin as well. This forum even has a bigger thread then 'My Thread' of this forum (it was brought up that 'My Theard' was causing some problems with the speed here)

Thanatos.
Edit:
Before gnomad comes and give me hard time I know you told me already in a PM what is happening but I still thinking is more than just backups. just my .02 cents here.

Wow, that's not slow, that's freezing Quattro. It's been working slower than usual for me the last few days, but compared to you, I feel like I'm on the Enterprise...

When reporting problems...
There are two known issues with forum speed at the present time:
1. Various backup and administrative tasks are run between midnight and 4AM EST, and it is not uncommon to see slower performance during this time. I'm working with the server admin at the co-lo facility to see what we can do about lowering the priority of these tasks and to reschedule them to between 4AM and 7AM EST, when our logs show the least activity.
2. Posts and accesses to long threads such as the infamous "My Thread" will often cause MySQL to go off and lose it's mind for 5-10 seconds, stalling all access to the forums. I'm working with the vBulletin authors to see if there is any way arround this other then capping the size of threads.
I have received several reports of speed issues, and so far they have all fallen into one of these two categories. I welcome reports of problems, but they must contain the following information to be useful:
1. The date and time (either in local of GMT/UTC format) of the problem
2. A complete description of the problem.
3. A ping log during the time of difficulty.
4. Your IP address
Here is a good way to create a log file:
Open up a DOS command window, and type the following commands:
ipconfig > log.txt
date >> log.txt
[control-c]
time >> log.txt
[control-c]
ping -t www.mp3car.com >> log.txt <--- let this run during testing
[control-c] <---- when done, press [control-c]
date >> log.txt
[control-c]
time >> log.txt
[control-c]
Send all this information via email to peter@mp3car.com, and I'll look into the problem.

I had trobule accessing the site between 2:30am and 2:50am. The site did not respond to ping.
Quattro - Try adding mp3car to your host file "C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\host" : 154.6.109.11 www.mp3car.com
I also see you are routed \/ia cogentco and if the next step is level3, then that explains alot. (Google Cogentco and Level3)

Ping and traceroute measure network delays, not server load, and will not be effected by backup/cron jobs. The past 24 hours has been a rough time for the internet as some of the tier 1 carriers were experiencing major problems with one of their software upgrades.
In any case, Quattro, those 1/4 second ping times in your local network are definitely a problem at your end.

Very late last night - at the same time Quattro had the problem, I couldn't connect to the forum. In fact, I thought it was probably being hacked. At first I got the "www.mp3car.com does not exist" message, like I mistyped it.
Later, when I tried again I was directed to Google maps! I closed the browser, cleared the cache and history and tried again. Same result! Then, it tried to connect and timed out several times with "server not responding".

Whatever you say.
I guess the problem is on my end, and this "problem" only exsists for this and only this site.
I guess I'll drop the issuse and won't bring it up again. I'll probably get the same answer again.
Maybe this "problem" that is on my side is a sign telling me not to visit this site anymore.

Have you tried another computer on the same connection? Perhaps a proxy to use a different route.
