Sick of dumb questions!

Is anyone else sick of all the same dumb questions? Which PSU should I use? Which Frontend? blah blah blah.

Can we have some sort of popup that appears when someones post count is below a certain amount to politely ask them to SEARCH before asking the same question that was asked the previous day.

I'm more than happy to ask people but not when it is the same answer day after day. If I tell someone to search they just flame.

Can the mp3car staff do something about it?? Its getting SOOO annoying.

I'm sympathetic. I saw the thread you answered and the guy was pretty out of line coming in here, asking for a spoon feed and then lecturing you about being nice to him.

But unfortunately, legislating away stupidity is impossible. Just do what I've been doing lately, skip over the "Newbie needs help" posts until you feel a little more like dealing with it.

i still think that we should outlaw certain thread title words like best *this* or that etc
make the thread titles for all members be descriptive or else they will be deleted

then when someone makes a post very simply if the thread title trully is descriptive then before posting in a new window a search opens up using the thread title asking the person if any of these match thier problem

if 1 in 10 ppl use it its worth it
and it also will be an option that can be unselected in the CP afterall when u registered and had a question did you click the CP to change many setting chances are no

ive seen this done very successfully on other forums (yes using vbullitin)
with all the coders here why cant something be done

"spoonfeed a man and he will eat for a day, teach him how to search and he'll leave you alone"

Also, I think we need some more FAQs written up that directly answer these common questions. That way if one of these questions is asked a simple link to the FAQ section would hopefully be enough, and no one else would need to respond. We also have the new review section where we should be able to eventually answer ALL "Which is the best ______" questions. If we get reviews on everything in there that should cover a lot of noob questions.
Of course there will always be newbie questions no matter what is done with the forum; For these we should leave them to Darque.

This is actually a very good idea! If this could be possible it would be great!

Too much web space is taken up with the same questions over and over again...looking at almost any forum, you can see a couple of similar thread on the same page, all started by noobs...sometimes even one after the other...

That's great, PURDooM!!!!!
But WTF is Dr. Pibb? Mister Pibb or Dr. Pepper or a blending of the two? Perhaps some Faygo-like knockoff?

I'm all for new FAQs. Maybe even putting them in the format of a 'FAQ', where there's a question that links to an answer or has the answer right under each question...
Perhaps even break it up into logical subsections such as Audio, LCDs, wiring, CPUs/motherboards, power, etc.

I'm MORE than willing to help out with this project if it will stem some of the flow of stupidity that's been flooding these forums of late.
Really, we shouldn't have to resort to tactics like this: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...7&postcount=32

we all know that nothing can stop these questions from being asked. fortunately, however, the stupid questions are usually asked in the newbie forum. why dont you administartors just eliminate the newbie forum being linked to the mp3car homepage? let the newbies discuss these beginner questions with each other. isn't that what this forum is for?

maybe there should be a test before they are allowed to post. this way they have to search through the forums to find the answers. When they get them all right, then they can post.
