u should be able to use destinator no problem, but not tomtom with destinator maps.

there are ways of automating the serial port mapping externally. search for autohotkey

Hi Sama,
Got a question:

I got everything running but when the TomTom wizard pops up and i get to select the voice setting (after the clock setting) the whole PPC freezes up.

ive got the voices(dataXX.chk files) properly installed, do you (or someone else) have any idea what could be wrong?

yep, happened to me too. it's very annoying and you'll need to do the procedure again. only this time, dont' save the state until tomtom is started. I'm guessing you got hold of the image that somehow made it's way around

follow the tutorial to find the way, then save the state without the serial configured too

Hi!

I'm able to start the emulator, everything is fine. When I start Tomtom the screen becomes blurry (almost unreadable). I can see that the Tomtom program is running (the setup phase).

What can that be?

Just the emulator screen. I mean I can see well the emulator window (with the menu: file, flash, help).

The emulator screen is just fine when I start it, or when I exit the program Tomtom.

While the Tomtom program is running the screen is blurred, I can barely see what is written (the tomtom program setup process).

I also thought of a resolution problem, I tried 640x480x16 and 320x240x16, which other resolution shall I try?

Although I am not sure this is the problem since the emulator is fine with both resolutions, just the tomtom program not.

tomtom will not work with non standard resolutions when the pocket pc will. for example, the pocketpc will run in widescreen mode but tomtom will appear completely unreadable. this is because tomtom's software writes in scan lines and will resize only at a 4:3 ratio (crap programming if you ask me)

claudioita, could you post some screenshots, and the exact settings your using to:

a) initially start the emulator
b) start the emulator thereafter

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Device Emulator 2.0 Preview\DE.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 MSFP Emulator Images\pocketpc.nb0" /s "C:\pocketpc.dess" /p /sharedfolder "C:\Storage Card" /vmname TomTom /video 640x480x16 /memsize 128

I tried also 320x240x16 and/or memsize 256

I renamed the program deviceemulator.exe in de.exe

You can see the tomtom is correctly running. If I press enter, it goes to ask the settings (also almost unreadable)

if all else fails, it's not a very nice workaround, but you can use an external app like autohotkey to renable the serial ports on startup.

i get pda working flawlessly on my homepc but tomtom cd doesn't want to install. I can't complain about it cause the cd isn't genuine (i want to try it out cause tomtom cd is more than 300€ with maps). Which version did you try exactly? I have here tomtom navigator 5.21. Cheers

You can use the SDCARD version. You basically just copy all the files to the "Storage Card" and as soon as you boot up the PDA tomtom will install automatically on your PDA. If not just run the "autorun" file

Much much better than the CD version.
