I'm thinking of using Ubuntu in my car PC because I only have one copy of XP and that's being used on my desktop. I don't want to fork out cash to buy another copy of XP because most of the ones I've seen here are about AUD $70 and I've already exceeded my car PC budget. Anyway, Linux plays audio and video files fine, and that's the main thing I'll be doing with my car PC

Ubuntu Mobile looks interesting. I'd like to get my hands on a copy.

I tried the image that you can download and run as a virtual machine. The performance wasn't too good for the testing image. I suspect that it would be better when run on native hardware.

It's still pretty exciting to see. The other thing is they are starting to port Android to desktop machines (AsusTek/Asus is working on this according to TGDaily)

Well it turns out that I could download XP Pro from MSDN Alliance for free because the faculty in which I study at university (IT faculty) assigns an MSDN account to each student. So I ended up downloading that and installing that in my car PC. See my worklog for the almost complete system Just needs a few minor things now.
