I manually edit the rr.ini, but config overwrites as there is no option for HD radio in the config utility yet.....

Only when I Make a change and save though Config..............

*edit- nevermind, I was using an older version of config. Solved*

get the most up to date version of rrconfig from bluezx3's thread. The older version doesnt have hdradio set as an option.

Yup.

It's all working now gents. My only issue I had was my INI files being re-written everytime I saved a Config. When I noticed there wasn't an hd radio selection in config it all clicked in what was wrong.
I must say, it seems pretty good so far. I've got it runing in the basement, 3 feet below grade, without an antenna and it's pretty much as as good as the radio shark with an antenna (and a clear sight line to the tower) that I was running before. Can't wait to get this puppy hooked up to an antenna and see what it'll do in the car!

Cheers

HD Perfect

I just finished the install of my HD Radio Tuner, and boy can I tell you.....this THING rocks. It sounds way better then my BOSE Radio in the Envoy. (My other Car).
Here is a shot of it running in the car with all it's glory. The camera is crappy, I know.
I have also attatched the skin file with the code (If someone want's to play with it.
The SEL button cycles to the sub channels and when held down, it brings up the PRESET Menu.

problems... helpppp

ok i have 2 problems.. but first I have to thank Mitch for his cable.. quick shipping and great purchase.. the Visteon HD radio gets great reception even with the stock BMW antenna in the rear window.. Heck I bought another one for my home stereo, cant beat the price on ebay..

ok heres my first problem.. I have a soundblaster pci card in my carpc which i have front and rear outputs, im using line in on the card for the visteon. When using mitch's software to control the visteon, the sound only outputs through the front speakers.. I cant seem to figure out why?? everything else that plays from the computer plays out on front and rear speakers.

Next I cant seem to get roadrunner to control the radio.. from my search here there doesnt seem to be any guide for a software idiot like myself. I have the new version of roadrunner (downloaded the bin and put it in the roadrunner folder).

would it be possible for one of you software guru's to make a step by step process of how to get roadrunner to control the visteon??

Many thanks.. James

First of all, Mitch's cable does control the audio part of the tuner. You have two RCA outputs on the Tuner for your audio. If your LINE IN does not work correctly with the Card, I think it should, you can allways try the CD IN on the motherboard and see if it makes a difference.
Software wise, if you downloaded the newest version of RR then you can see a subfolder in the RR Directory, called HD Radio. There are six files in it. Double Click the file called
"runme1st". After that run RR Conifg.exe and under the RADIO settings select HD RADIO and the Audio Line you use for the Radio.
Next, look in the RR.ini file under the RADIO part, there you find this.

[Radio]
radiomode=8 >tell RR to use HD RADIO
allowallfreqs=false > Tuning of the Frequecy steps (88.5,88.6,88.7 and on)
radioline=1 >wher the audio comes from
userbds=false > for PTY info false for europe, true for USA
hdradioport=1 >the com port you pluged mitch's cable in

Now, when you click on RADIO in your skin, you should hear a click in the tuner and it should start playing.
Look in your mixer and make sure you don't have anything muted that you need.

I bought before the most recent seller showed up on ebay, still worth it for good radio.

Im still trying to figure out how to have roadrunner save a list with this tuner, and also to return to HD menu and save the station it was on. Right now any time I leave the HD menu and come back it is at 87.5 and I have to retune it.

RR needs to keep track if the radio is playing or not, and know that when going to the screen.

It is especially annoying when I hear a song on the radio, and switch to the skin to see the title and such, and it tunes to another station!

This is not an RR Issue it is a user issue, sorry to say. You are more than likely in LOCAL mode when creating your playlist or tuning stations. Switch back to your main playlist by using creating a LOCAL button in your skin to toggle back and forth.
THIS WILL SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM....

Any of you guys using a the code for presets in RR working for the HD radio skin?

Code:
FMPRESET;PRESET1||SETVARBYCODE;FMP01;FREQUENCE||SAVETOSKIN;FMP01;$FMP01F$ .

It's not changing the Frequency for me.

I will give this a try and see if it works. I was messing around with the local setting while bench testing and It didn't seem to matter but Ill try again. When I click local it just wipes the list again. Thunderstick what happens in your setup if you go to HD, set a few presets , go to your mp3 menu, then go back to the HD menu. DO your presets stick?
