Finally got my HD radio skin completed, it is untested since I dont have the tuner yet. But I am releasing with the new release of my skin (New Age) today.
Most radio functions, labels and indicators were used. Some were not because I felt they were not needed. The link to my skin is in my signature at the bottom of my posts.
Thanks for all the work that went in to this.
Much appreciated...

Thanks for the link! I checked, and there are 2 stations in KS where I'm at, and a bunch in Los Angeles (for when I'm there) but no music I like. As much as I'd like to get this, I'm gonna have to pass =[

Remember though it is also an AM/FM tuner. And really since it is made for the car and uses your original car antenna it should have superior reception. At least better than the alternatives (D-Link Radio, Silabs, HQCT) which honestly are not even worth considering as far as I have heard.

Ah yea, forgot about regular AM/FM tuning.. you may have a customer after all!
How do you switch between regular and HD? Is there a command to send the unit via RR?
Also, I wonder how well this would work with a hidden antenna.. I dont want one of those ugly things sticking outta my car =p (open for suggestions)

In RR you tune to a regular FM station then a list of HD sub channels come up allowing to to tune in to HD radio.

well, not exactly HD is automatic...
Say you tune to 93.3, it 1st tunes to the analog freq, and it then quickly sees the digital stream(s) and switches to HD mode (and BOY you can HEAR the difference)
once its in HD Mode, there is usually a 2nd Audio stream you can chose from
a HD Sub Channel, alot of stations broadcast commerical free on that...
i need to look at the nice skins just made
i posted some skin command that will toggle between the HD SUB channels (HD1 (MAIN), HD2)

Is there a difference in time-delay between the analog and digital channel of a station? I read a review online somewhere where one user was annoyed while driving if the signal strength drifted in and out, then the radio would switch back and forth between digital and analog and the song/program would jump back and forth a few seconds in time.
Anyone else experienced this?

if signal is weak, it will drift back to analog, its instant
i notice NO delay, just goes back to crappy AM/FM
to me with out HD i would NEVER listen to radio... just like i amost never listen to XM
it just dont sound that good, when i got all my MP3s with me
i use "RADIO" for sports...
but thats just me...
oh, the NEWS does sound good in HD

OK, the switch between digital and analog is instant, but once it switches, do you notice that the analog audio is either farther along or behind by a couple seconds compared to the digital audio stream?

Cartoys
I just wanted to mention that I bought the radio a while back from Cartoys and had no issues what so ever. This could be because I ordered over the phone. I recieved free shipping also. They even called to follow up the next week. Maybe I just got lucky. Anyway, I also want to thank Mitch for providing this great cable for what I thought was a reasonable price. Kudos.
P.S. I have not needed to ground my RCA's yet.

When switching between analog and hd, the audio is still sync'd. You'll notice the sound quality go up or down. It switches to hd after maybe a second of getting and keeping a hd signal lock. That delay should prevent you from getting TOO annoyed by the hd/analog switching. Unfortunately there's no option to disable hd signal searching, but you shouldn't be hearing 30 signal changes every minute.

Sumna batch! Cartoys doesn't ship outside of the continental unit states.................
Grumble, grumble..................
Everybody else is so bloody expensive..........
grumble, grumble..........
here's a question for those who already own the visteon:
I don't have HD stations anywhere near where I live, but notice that the unit does regular analog am/fm. Would this work acceptably for a regular radio tuner for the carputer?
