Ended up getting a VISTEON HDZ300 shipped to my house for a smidge under 200 bucks canadian.
I can't wait to have radio that actually work (........radioshark........grumble........crap.... ...mumble.........) in the car again.
Kinda miss morning talk radio and local news/weather........
Not to mention the drive in movie theater down the road that uses fm broadcasts.

Got me my Directed HD radio last week, but still in the process of installing it.
Having a bit of a problem w/ space, so I pretty much am gutting the front to find space to cram that box in and run audio and power.
Man, I can't wait to power it up and have decent radio again...

looks like my motherboard (intel little valley) doesnt put out enough juice to the serial port because i can get the radio working on all my computers but that one. Guess i'll be looking for a serial-usb adapter today.

Interesting...........
I'll have to keep this in mind if I have troubles installing mine when it gets here. Hopefully I won't have your issue as I'm not using the little valley board..........
cheers

you more than likely wont have the same issue.. and honestly i dont know if its a motherboard issue or a m2atx power rail issue but i'm hoping that adapter solves this mess.

my circuit draws MICRO Ampers
RS232 MUST put out at least 1.5Miliamps some put out as much a 5 Miliamps
if the radio clicks, its on
anyway... use my HDRadio PCR to test, see if it finds the tuner
can you test this same comport with another device, like xm or at least make a jumper on 2 and 3 and test loopback in a terminal sw

well i'm not sure what the issue is/was with my serial port but a usb/serial adapter fixed part of my problems... it now plays as it should thru HDradio PCR, but road runner does not turn it on anymore becuase its no longer on com port 1.

Try changing the port in device manager -- RR has no limitation with the port number, but Mitch's code may have.
