It's wierd, done it on 2 separate computers.....

Go through following mitch's instructions, all goes well, then I go into the hd and xm folders and there is some more .bat files, so I run them. XM does fine, but the register.bat on HD gives that error on both computers.

I just manually checked the registry and it is registered. Guessing it's done in another step and then can't redo it.

pontiac... NO of course not, your 2ch/4ch thing is inside ur pc

you know on my OS / audio system... 2 channel LINE in, plays on all 4 speakers
via the PLAYBACK MIXER (VISTA,realtek 880)

see technically MUSIC is 2channel, (not talking about 5.1)
and there is NO such thing as rear speakers
but some people got it in their head they need music coming from the rear in a car
(you know it generally screws up the imaging of the music) but most people
arnt aware, or really understand...

what audio system are you using?

I didn't and everything worked great on the first roadtrip. Heck, stuff that has never worked before now works (gps weather, zipcode updating). I might just become a full time roadrunner convert yet!

Since your stuff is working great, I'm going to head over to the digital fx thread for other issues. Thanks a lot, sorry for the confusion, and as I said to begin with, great product!

I'm just saying the HD radio sounds like crap coming out of just the front speakers. When it's locked on an HD station, the tweeters get real loud. It would sound much better with sound also coming from the back. MP3's sound much much much better because of this.

I'm running a SB Audigy SE tied into my factory amp.

i dont know too much about the SB Audigy SE, but my guess it only supports a "virtual" surround and wont copy the audio from front to back speakers, but u can always use "AudioRepeater"
part of virtural audio cable

sounds like you dont got balance in your system, if HD Radio sounds like crap

Nope. AudioRepeater does the same thing Winamp does.....makes an echo.

Does anyone know a reasonably priced soundcard that will play the line-in on all speakers?? It's ashame when ya spend all this money on a CarPC and a $20 radio sounds better than an HD radio.

I'm using an muadio firewire 410, it has 8 outputs, no problems here, have tested audiorepeater and winamp line in plugin.

Probably not what you would consider reasonably priced, cost me $200 used from kijiji...

I had no problem with SB Live external 24 and XM line in. They're pretty cheap. Not sure how it would do on HD, but should be the same.

Since then I decided to go with built in and got the kino-9452 motherboard (realtek ALC883 7.1). No issues on any line-ins and full control down to the individual speakers.

pontiac, no it doesnt "AudioRepeater" does not create echo!!!

you need to understand how audio in windows(OS) works! (or kinda)

put away RR for the moment...

a windows audio system (not talking vista, but vista is close(actually better) then XP)

there are inputs and outputs, lets call them PINS

you got playback pins, and record pins

a playback pin, will let you listen to a audio input LIVE, never being processed by the CPU of the PC

so.. if you got say a LINE IN, and you go to the playback section of the mixer, and unmute its PIN, you will hear what comes in on that line in...

NOW in your case, MUTE ALL the PLAYBACK input PINS... LINE IN, CD, AUX, what ever they are, they vary from sound card to sound card...
this is done in the windows mixer

now go to the record section of the mixer... there are PINS there
select only the LINE IN PIN, when you activate it you wont hear anything...

now use "Audiorepeater", in the IN, select the LINE IN (PIN)
and the out, wav mapper is fine... or direct to speakers
set up u speaker config you want quad... and click start...
at this point, if u got audio playing on you line in... you will hear the audio
on all 4 speakers, NO ECHO!

now RR, is limited on how it manages audio... basicly you do NOT want to use "linein" method
cause they are on the PLAYBACK PIN side of the mixer
for instance.. radioline=0, xmline=0, so fourth...
and u want all your PLAYBACK input PINS Muted
then you need RR to use "audio repeater" (since it take cmd line)
to do your audio
OR winamp LINE IN plug in, with a line out plug in, would do..
as long as winamp line in plug in, uses the RECORDING PINS, and doesnt touch playback PINS

if you need one on one help... id be happy to help you via email or better yet IM

I started a conceptuall audio management system while back... but since like you guys already know, i dont USE RR, i never finished it... but i use it alot since my machine has multiple sounds cards/usb devices, and i can play back audio from any device to the speakers on the onboard device

AMPCTRL is for pin #4. The other software VOLUME_AMP_CONTROL (I think its called) uses pin #4 also. Daniel how is AMPCTRL working for you? I am having a issue were it takes almost one minute to turn on the amps, and after a few hibernations i get no sound. Im thinking of ditching AMPCTRL and using the VOLUME_AMP one.

Also, Mitch, I like your USB, line device thingy... looks very small. I did get the Auto A/V switch and it hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. So it would be awsome to use yours. Can i be a beta tester?

I only have a few days testing under my belt, and so far, it works fine (ampctrl). Remind me in a week or so or if I have problems I'll let you know. By the time rr is running, I have amps.

Cool, i'll be waiting, although Im going to uninstall it and try the other.

Also I got the A/V switch thing in. Its pretty cool. I tested it on my PS2 and XBOX 360. First I turned on my PS2 and it automatically switched to Port 2. I then turned on the 360 and it switched to that item. I then turned off the 360 and it went back to PS2. I read somewhere that the XM stays on all the time with CF, but I know the HD radio shuts off because I hear it click off. So this is perfect, but like I said the size of the unit is cr@ppy

PS: nevermind, it doesnt work with only audio, you have to have a video feed for auto switch... so looks like Mitches device is the best way to go.

You know, I wonder if the fact that I am using everything onboard now (especially sound), if it will have a problem. MoBo seems really REALLY smart. Probably the best motherboard I have ever owned. And that's saying a lot when the first computer I ever built was a 286 (and could double as a coffee table).
