pontiac, no it doesnt "AudioRepeater" does not create echo!!!
you need to understand how audio in windows(OS) works! (or kinda)
put away RR for the moment...
a windows audio system (not talking vista, but vista is close(actually better) then XP)
there are inputs and outputs, lets call them PINS
you got playback pins, and record pins
a playback pin, will let you listen to a audio input LIVE, never being processed by the CPU of the PC
so.. if you got say a LINE IN, and you go to the playback section of the mixer, and unmute its PIN, you will hear what comes in on that line in...
NOW in your case,
MUTE ALL the PLAYBACK input PINS... LINE IN, CD, AUX, what ever they are, they vary from sound card to sound card...
this is done in the windows mixer
now go to the record section of the mixer... there are PINS there
select only the LINE IN PIN, when you activate it you wont hear anything...
now use "Audiorepeater", in the IN, select the LINE IN (PIN)
and the out, wav mapper is fine... or direct to speakers
set up u speaker config you want quad... and click start...
at this point, if u got audio playing on you line in... you will hear the audio
on all 4 speakers, NO ECHO!
now RR, is limited on how it manages audio... basicly you do NOT want to use "linein" method
cause they are on the PLAYBACK PIN side of the mixer
for instance.. radioline=0, xmline=0, so fourth...
and u want all your PLAYBACK input PINS Muted
then you need RR to use "audio repeater" (since it take cmd line)
to do your audio
OR winamp LINE IN plug in, with a line out plug in, would do..
as long as winamp line in plug in, uses the RECORDING PINS, and doesnt touch playback PINS
if you need one on one help... id be happy to help you via email or better yet IM
I started a conceptuall audio management system while back... but since like you guys already know, i dont USE RR, i never finished it... but i use it alot since my machine has multiple sounds cards/usb devices, and i can play back audio from any device to the speakers on the onboard device
