HD Radio Cables READY!

I got the HD Radio cables ready!!!!

the new code is in Roadrunner already

prob need someone to make a really nice radio skin screen for it

there is electronics inside this cable...
so its not just a simple 3 wires

for use with the VISTEON HDZ300 or DIRECTED DMHD1000(limited supply)

If you dont know yet, HD Radio sound quality BLOWS Sat Radio away!

im selling the cables for $24 free shipping in USA

I want to thank Guino for his FAST support of this!

Its RS232 for many reasons, if you need USB use a USB-Rs232 deally
of course use one that is reliable and supports suspend!
(I ONLY use FTDI based, their drivers seem the best)

here is a handy skin command (with guino's help...)
a single button to toggle though the HD Sub Channels

Code:
"SETVARBYCODE;HDCHAN;HDSUB||SETVARBYCODE;HDCOUNT;HDSUBCOUNT||EVAL;HDCHAN;1+(($HDCHAN$)%($HDCOUNT$))||HDSUB;$HDCHAN$"

need someone to make a nice HD Radio specific skin
maybe take the BMV2 as a base and make a new Radio_Player.skin and jpgs
just to show how to use HD Radio

i'm SO ready to purchase this and the Directed unit but i dont see anywhere where there's actual instructions on how to setup/use the device. Obviously connecting the serial port to the computer and the tuner allows you to control the unit from the computer. Does that make the "face" of the unit unneccessary? Does the tuner hook up to the existing car antenna or is that another purchase that needs to be made similar to sat radio? If there's a link with more info i'd sure love to see it.

Really. I've been trying to find more info as to how it's setup with little luck. Right now, I use an aftermarket stereo for sound thru an aux input w/ my carPC in the trunk. If the HD radio uses an aux input, that's not ideal as I'd prefer not to have to run sound thru the carPC then to the stereo.

The Silabs is working, but nowhere near where I want radio functionality to be. I'm hoping that HD radio is the solution, but definitely need more info as to how to set it up.

The display supplied with the Visteon or the Directed unit, isnt used!

the antenna is you're car antenna

the audio comes out via 2 rcas, which you would bring into your CARPC via line In or Mic In or some other IN

are people ruuning out of INs? could design a USB In only device, with multiple selectable inputs

look at them, they are identical!
ok, one is black, one is grey

but its the same tuner, also the Directed one is hard to find, they so soon after they released it, discontinued it... (prob cause they sell Sirius)

i dont know how long the visteon will remain around, i bet due to this being new technology, it dont last long

but if you wan HD Radio now... nab it and enjoy

im really happy with mine, makes my AM sports talk sound great (AM HD)
im not much of a FM listener, cause thats just music, if i want that.... i use mp3s...

There's an ebay seller selling them dirt cheap, no manufactuer's warranty.
I bought it from them for $125 last month and now it's $80.

http://hdradiofarce.blogspot.com/
Maybe hdradio would die, maybe it won't.
But this unit will still receive am/fm even if hdradio dies off completely.

HD Radio

I'm very interested in the HD Radio as well. Is HD Radio support built in to RR? I'm using the early 07 version of RR. Currently I'm using the Silabs and it works well but no where near the Pioneer HU that I replaced. Does anyone have any skins available for HD Radio? A write up of an HD Radio install would be great. On the down side, I'll have to pull the whole unit out of the car, don't have a test unit. I'll have to use a USB to serial adapter and do some more wiring and find a place to put the HD control unit. I'm very short on space, 1996 Maxima. Thanks.

You can get the interface cables for half that price [LINK REMOVED BY MODERATOR]. There is nothing complicated about them, actually pretty easy to make yourself I you like to solder.
I cant imagine anyone charging four times what the cable construction parts cost for an interface cable. We call them kind of folks ripoffs and scammers in my neck of the woods. Someone like that would even lie about things just to make you buy his cable rather than save some bucks.

I purchased a Directed box, and picked up a cable from that other guy (sorry Mitch, you didn't have yours available yet).

RR support is in the newest versions, and it will work with the standard radio skins, but you can't access all the features available with the HD unit.

Just as mitch stated above, someone needs to make a skin specifically for HD radio, I'm sure the MP3Car unit could also use the same skin. Such a skin would allow you to select sub channels, allow you to store song info to a text file (JohnWPB), etc. etc.

There's no reason anyone in the US should be still buying the HQCT, since the HD solution is less expensive, with more features.

HD radio sounds great!
