since no one at soundtrack or car toys knows anything about the 740bt, can some here please tell me how to add AM/FM to the 740BT?
It would be ideal for me to have a caputer connected to the 740BT with your magic box but also have a decent AM/FM module. I can't glean any info from alpine1 on this question.

Cheers

we have also confirmed that with our adapter you will be able to retain the remote control functions of the HU or monitor to control other alpine bits and pieces (eg. VPA, DVA-5210, MRA, RSE-2 etc...) with a Carputer attached!

Devin G. Aka High Plains Drifter

WOW...that is absolutely brilliant news.

I am in the process of building my CARPC. I already have my laptop setup and all the bits on order. I am an Alpine customer and have been for 10 years......I simply cant see myself sacrificing the Audio quality or Alpine for some cheap crappy Double-Din OR even a poor quality in-dash touchscreen monitor solution.

With your adapter, I can buy an nice quality Alpine and leverage that stunning investment for my carpc project.

QUESTION IS WHEN WHEN WHEN..............and how much are you guys looking at for the adapter.

Thanks, that was in the Perfect F.I.T section. It showed a picture of a remote so I never looked in there, Doh!

For those who have the 740BT, can you anyone tell me if the double din brackets allow you to mount the monitor at an angle? the manual barely mentions the brackets, so it's not much help in that regard. I'm gonna install it in a 2000 4runner and the opening is half way down the center console so I need a bit of an angle to see it clearly.

Cheers

This looks really good and exactly what I am looking for and NOW.

I am an alpine user of 10 years and swear by their quality of their product. I have an alpine in my supra right now....and it would be a complete disaster if I were to add a crappy chinese in-dash screen to my setup. This on the other hand gives me a good incentive to go for a double-din setup using a quality product like alpine.

I need some close dates as to when this will be available.....when will you be in a position to sell me one.

many thx

Can you guys please help me with this question?
The IVA-D900 manual http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products...20IVA-D900.pdf
Says the resolution is 2400x480. Several places in this thread it's mentioned that the res on the 900 is 800x400. How are these resolutions supposed to be read?
I'm trying to do a comparo of the alpine units because I really need one after mine died and I'm going nuts trying to find one that will work with your magic adapter.

Cheers

Although someone said in this thread that the iva-d900 has 800x400 resolution but looking in the manual it says 2400x480.

I'm confused.

You are correct the specs are 2400x480. We do not have a 900 to test it on. Right now we are only testing on the 740. It should look fine on a 900. We may have to adjust our syncs. If is does not scale then we are going to have custom resolution issues. But that is all a shot in the dark, it may not work on the 900 period. We want to make it compatibile with all the models we can but we are just focused on the 740.

Its still 800x480... they just count the RGB pixels seperately, 3x800=2400

Look forward to this interface being available.

Subscribed! How is this going? Anything I can do to help? I'm still working on my carpc, having some trouble with the fabrications, but I'm chugging along. I'd really like a Alpine Head Unit for many reasons and I still plan on buying a alpine head unit as well as an amp, speakers and that whole setup. Let me know if I can help.

Just wanted to post an update. We are still cracking away at the touch screen intergration. This is proving to be very difficult. We are still hoping to have this out soon. I dont know if this will work with the 505. It should being that it is 800x480.

The PC output on the Alpine screen looks really good!

Just wondering how the touchscreen is likely to work.. will you make an AI-net to USB/Serial adaptor and run software on the PC to "trick" the Alpine headunit into thinking there's an Alpine NVE-099P navigation system connected to it?

Sounds like a very difficult task, hope it goes well, I'd definately be on the lookout for something like this if you can get it to work.

Great job so far!
