looks like this is just what i've been looking for!

So the w505 manual lists its "number of picture elements" as 1,152,00 pcs (800x3x480) do I read that as an 800x480 monitor? if this is the case then I think this double din will work with this solution. It's still TFT, but at least I can get a full HU and a monitor for the carputer.

Am I reading the specs right?

Cheers

Look forward to this interface being available.

I hope this is done really soon. Can we get another estimate? If its longer then sooner, I might just do with a xenarc for now. I already have the alpine m740bt though.

Also, is it possible to have just have the video running right now without the touchscreen if I were to get a graphics card with composite out?

I guess the development is gone, etsicc hasn't been on for over a month and this is probably a dead end. I wish I could have at least gotten the converter since I don't need the touchscreen.

Updates?

I have read through this from start to finnish and I am in eager anticipation! I don't have room for a double din and don't want a screen on the dash! I have an Alpine monitor and would love to have this adaptor if it is still in progress.

A carpc is a must for me as I have a suspention system that keeps going up the spout and I can't keep taking my laptop with me all the time to reset it.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that are still interested in knowing how this is going. Any and all updates would be greatly appriciated.

Hi All,

Not sure how many people are still keeping an eye on this thread but I just had a conversation with Alpine that I thought you might be interested in.

I called them about something else but thought that I would ask if the chap I was talking to had any idea if or when Alpine might make the touch screen interface available to connect to a PC and he said that it is something that they are looking into however at the moment it isn't performing the way they want it to. He did say that it might be available in future if the feel that the interest is enough.

Would it be worth everyone e-mailing Alpine and letting them know if our interest for such an availability? My thinking is that they would be able to produce a breakout box a lot easier than anyone else as it is their equipment, this might also be available for legacy devices if we are lucky. At present the feeling I got from the guys was the the visual side of things are not at a point that they would like.

Perhaps etsicc and co. should have a word with them and let them know of what they are doing? Might get something that little bit sooner.

I was hopeing for updates. And disapointed not to see any, you dont understand how fast i would have one of these if this project is finished, and i dont care about touchscreen, i just want the vga input, even if i have to break open the case and solder.
