i think you need a real mouse from the positions on the screen. otherwise you have only the change to make one application with fixed points on the screen. thats not the best solution.

If you can get the buttons correctly connected via usb i can write an application that will change the raw codes to a keyboard shortcut of choice.
Dennis
Dennis, I have my VGA working on this unit already at 800x480, however the picture qualuty is far from perfect due to PC video limitations: a regular VGA adapter can provide 15kHz horizontal only with 30Hz interlaced vertical scan, so the screen is slightly shaky. This is negligible on solid backgrounds, but quite visible on thin lines, which could be critical for navi purposes. The rest of screens (video etc) can be antialiased and look just great. I can post some photos if you like.
On other hand, an add-on video processor that doublescans the picture (proper 60Hz non-interlaced) would make the adapter cost significantly more than an average user is ready to pay - even in wholesale prices, not retail. So I'm concerned seriously about meaninglessness of it. Maybe we just stop on software antialiasing? Please advise.
The USB interface is almost ready. I mean the hardware part. That's all I can tell now, just because I don't want to promise something and then get eternally lost, like the topic starters did. I think you'll be one of the first to know that the unit is available for purchase, when it gets to be.

Sir, you're always free to have a mouse, but trust me - it's never needed in CarPC tasks. A touchscreen is absolutely enough for navi and media. Well, of course I'd never install a spreadsheet or video editor into my car... Would you?

i like to have a carpc for surfing internet, using my email with onscreen keyboard, use facebook, xing ....
so i need it as mouse part. shortcuts for the onscreen keyboard or for every element on a homepage is no way for surfing.

Well, I have a brilliant idea then, absolutely free for you. Buy a trackball, take it out of the enclosure, and mount into your car's armrest. Thus you need no touchscreen, and are ready for carputing just now.

Ok I thinks he's trying to say stop being cheap and hire someone to create a mind control mouse to go alone with the interface. Is that to hard to comprehend?

No, sorry, i don't get any information about the interface. alpine say, that people that can make this kind of hardware, must be able to analyse the protocol and alpnie don't like to help in this case.

I've been a long time lurker, and have been heavily debating stock nav, after market (Eclipse/Apline), CarPC, or a hybrid of both. I found out the W505/P1 has 800x480 and was pretty sold...minus the VGA input...which is a bummer...SillyBilly, I believe you're leading the way, if that's the case, is there a way I could get in contact directly with you? A messenger or something? PMs take too long...unless that's what you prefer. Good luck.

My audio system will be mainly Alpine and it sure would be nice if something like this was available. For now I suppose I will settle for the LED Backlit Lilliput.
