I have that tactical feedback touchscreen on my alpine d300 touchscreen head unit. I don't think it would work with this, I think it is tightly integrated with ai-net... it beeps differently & feels different if you hit a button or miss a button that is displayed. it's not just the touchscreen itself that does that.

At the level that we are intergrating it should be possible. Also your touchscreen should not be running on AI. But I will try to get my hands on a screen with the feedback to know for sure.

I think they are making a stand alone like the 740bt that has tactile feedback. It all depends on the controller alpine is using for their feedback if we will be able to take advantage of that feature. But we are able to interface with the touchscreens in the 740, w205.

What kind of interface to the motherboard? Is it a standard VGA plug?

you know, the alpine d900 & 901 has a native 800x480 lcd too. if you could interface to that, that would be awesome. a complete multimedia headunit with pc display. this is something that many have waited years & years for. I bought a d900 a while ago & took it apart hoping to find an lvds or ttl interface, but of course it was neither so I couldn't do anything at the time... I wonder if it was rgb?

It is a custom built monitor/touchscreen interface. It has takin about 6 months to dial the video in. We are still perfecting the touchscreen.

Our interface should work with the d900,901. I am really interested in trying to get interfaced with the tactile feedback that will be an awsome feature.

Count me in on those interested...I have an alpine processor I'd love to control via one of their touch screens, along with having my carPC on it as an added bonus...this would allow me to ditch my dedicated processor control module and reclaim my factory cup holders (almost a necessity for this caffeine addict ).

as far as I know, the headunits with tactical feedback touchscreens are not 800X480 res. displays though... don't know anything about the stand alone screns with tactical feedback, if that even exists.
if this works on the 900/901's that would be so sweet

Hey, if this tactical feedback thing works, I would BUY an Alpine touchscreen just because of your interface! lol

the tactical thing is ok I guess, but I don't think it's as big of a deal as alpine made it out to be really.. basically is beeps when you hit the button correctly & buzzes when you miss an input. the feel is not that much, just a very tiny pulse like a miniature buzz or something. the way alpine advertized it it seemed like you'd actually be able to feel the edges of the buttons or something, but not so, you only feel & hear the difference weather it was a "good" touch or a "bad" touch, don't know how you would do anything like that with the pc though, wouldn't that be more than just hardware? I think this would have to be coded in a front end or something as well as the hardware side, which is what I ment by tightly integrated with ai net btw...
I got the d300 when they first came out with it, it was hyped up as being revolutionary & everything, but I never saw it as anything that was a that big of a deal really. I have a large pc touchscreen also in that install & I winded up turning off the feedback most times just so both touchscreens matched each other better, it's cool & all but not worth going nuts for in my opinion.

I am with you turbo. I am not to worried about the tactile feedback but it would be a cool feature if not to difficult to implement. So that will be a back burner feature that we will work on.

have you looked into what other units use a 800X480 screen? make this interface work with a headunit & you got a hit, the stand alone screen is cool & alpines quality is way above lilli/xenarcs, but an alpine multimedia full head unit that can display a pixel for pixel pc screen would be one great install.
last time I looked, only the 900/901's did 800X480. there was one other flip out that was in there f1 status line, but that wasn't much more than just a monitor too & not a head unit.
I haven't looked into this in a year or 2, if any other new alpine heads are 800x480 & not a flipout, but a double din, that would top everything out there so far

This screen is our test bed for a couple of reasons.
1)being the fact that these screens are the 1.1X million pixels and 800X480. the composite input looks great but wait till you see this screen as a monitor with a real input that can handle some resolution!
2)BLUETOOTH THAT WORKS! no headaches with CF and other programs with limited phones and functionality!
3)Price! MSRP is NOT $1,000!
4)this is a doube din sized monitor. it will fit in a dash kit for any vehicle that is double din and will also ISO mount in any true Double DIN hole, this will fit into any Metra,Scosche,AI or any other dash kit company's Double DIN hole to adapt to the dash(eg...Newer Fords, Toyota, Nissan, GM etc..). I have installed it into my Double Din Corolla with absolute perfection! although I would love to have one in my older Corolla dash but DIN wasn't much of a Standard used by the Japanese back in the early 70's . I will probably make a custom Pod and mount it overhead for controls of my EFI, Camera, accelerometer and whatever is going into this car soon after we finish the current project.
We are Very well versed in Alpine Product. I have 12 years hands on with Alpine product and the 12Volt industry 10years of that has been involved in Alpine Navigation. I only have Alpine in my Own cars/trucks and won't buy anything else! Call me biased, their product rocks and looks/sounds excellent!
