Answers to Questions

No, car PC is providing nav at this time. Nav cable is not being used. How are things looking as far as a release date? Thanks

This is so very extremely promising. My alpine 7878 has been dead for over a hear (only radio works) and I've been wanting to plunk down money on a carpc but I can't find anything out there that meets my very picky wants.
This looks awesome. I will probably go with an alpine HU, only because it'd be nice to have a DVD rom and AM/FM easily accessible, and the carpc do everything else.
Ideally I'd like a double din HU.
Is there a good place to see apline HU's and see their resolutions? It seems this info is listed in the manual but in doing research, I can't seem to find all these manuals.

Cheers and I can't wait for the product.

alpine1.com should have most manuals up, most heads are not 800x480 though, don't think there is a double din 800x480 alpine head yet...

I dont know which hu have 800x480 but, I do know that we just hooked up our hub pro and that has am/fm built in and the ability to add almost anything that alpine makes. We are currently researching the full capabilities of the hub to see what we can make for the carpc arena.

doesnt the hub pro menu screen look kinda bad compared to the 740's built in menu? the impression I got was the screens built in menu screen was really high resolution but the hub pros was not, is this correct? does the hub pro output at a lower res?

Does the hub Pro (I assume the VPA-222B is the unit you are using) support touchscreen use?

The hub pro does not scale to fit the entire screen but does not look bad. You can able to use touchscreen control or the Orb control unit.

I'm up in fort collins and I'm having a really hard time finding Alpine HU's with the 800x480 at any of the stores. Seems the new models are 1200x234 unless I'm reading the manual wrong (number of picture elements).
Although someone said in this thread that the iva-d900 has 800x400 resolution but looking in the manual it says 2400x480.

I'm confused.

We are still looking at probably a couple months out. HPD had posted on page 5 last month and we are still within his time guess. We are happy that everyone is so interested. We have made leaps and bounds of progress with the touchscreen. Whitecivic00 glad to here you like it, we will keep you informed. I am with you on the reading and posting issues.
Kinzo if you dont have comp. video out of your pc then you will need to get a scan converter or build one. We are not working with that type of adapter.
