Good **** Dylan. That's a nice trick so every one can use GE. I wonder if teraserver has China? How's EB comming along? I'd like to SKINbed it once you have hot-key support.
David: Keep up the awsome work on GooPs. I can't wait to try out the new version when I get back to the states. The new feature set is incredible as usual.

Dlyan, how much of a PITA was that though? And does the auto zoom and stuff like that work and look good with the overlay you used?

Oh, it is absolutely a PITA. No question about that. It just depends on how much you want high-res pictures. I'm not sure what you mean by "auto zoom and stuff like that" but it acts just as if GE itself had high-res data there. Go ahead and turn on the roads layer and see what I mean.

For that one, it was a total of about 10 minutes. I spend half my day in Photoshop, though, so take that for what it is.
The process is basically what I explained above. You find the place in TerraServer, take screenshots as you pan around. Bring those into Photoshop, strip off the extra bits so you just have the aerial photos, then stitch then all together into one big image. The hard part is once you bring it into GE, stretching and tugging the overlay to match the roads layer.

Because I'm such a nice guy...
Here's one for the area in your screenshot above. Total time was about 15 minutes.

Dylan, do you know if there is a size limit for the overlay image? I just spend a LONG time making a HUGE one and when I go to add it it doesn't show up?
Image is 3199x4144

Hi David I've been meaning to ask you but had no time... I think you show my post in The Ublox DR thread. I have been following this from day one and first of all I just want to thanks you for your work, help and amazing support! The program is amazing! Now to my problem. Goops works fine with my old Haicom mouse GPS with the usual problems like the spin around when stopped or that my positions keeps moving around when stopped just a few feet but enough to be annoying but not a real problem. Now with my new DR GPS all these are eliminated and also well it has DR! but for some reason it does not work with Goops. Actually this what happens, I change the port to the gps and it starts working fine! Then it suddenly stops tracking for no apparent reason it read receiving data from GPS but nothing happens in GE. Then the only way to make it work again is to delete the current user being tracked. Not even reconnecting my old GPS does anything... If I delete the user from settings and restart Goops then it works again until the same thing happens... I am suspecting that is is related to the DR mode. Maybe when there are no sats locked but DR is still tracking it confuses Goops? by the way the GPS is outputting NEMA data only.
I also have on emore problem. My computer in the car is a VIA EPIA SP13000. it is a bit slower than a normal one so it takes some time to load GE. So when goops tries to auto start GE I get this error (see Photo). I have to wait until GE starts and then click retry could you disable it or change the time it waits? Maybe a registry key? Well it is a bit annoying. Also is it possible to have a setting to auto start GE when Goops is lunched? Just a request I guess!

Thanks spaceskater,
Can you capture and send me the nmea output when the problem occurs? If not I can make a special debug build for you to run.

Very true! Sorry about that David! I mixed the names up... I'll capture and send you the nmea output as soon as possible! Thanks!

spaceskater,
Did you try the <RotateMinimum> setting in Autozoom.cfg for your spinniing problem?
I don't think I have any control over that dialog that comes up when Google Earth starts. I believe you can ignore it and it will go away on its own once Google Earth gets started.
I can add a setting to autostart GE when GooPs is launched.
Thanks again.
