If I hibernate, and resume from hibernate, GoopS will somehow stop working correctly. It says it is uploading data to FTP etc, but in reality it seems that it is either uploading no data at all, or maybe simply uploading the SAME data (no new data points). Likely the later.
For example, if I delete the file from my FTP Server, GoopS will put a new one, but it has no new datapoints. It is just the same old data. So, I know it *is* uploading the file, but I also know it is not putting any new data.
I am using Xport3.
Is this a known issue? I wish this would work the way I want it, it is a magnificent tool!!!

Could it be related to this?

Looks like some have had luck with earlier versions of xport, see the xport thread here http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/soft...nation-11.html
You may want to try GPSgate (free 30 day trial) to see if it works any better.

Thanks for looking into this David. I am using an older version of Xport3. So in fact, maybe I just need to try a newer version instead LOL. Although you said that you tried and it gave you problems? I assume you tried the latest version. So that kind of sets me back to square one!
Glad you confirmed there *is* an issue though. I thought I was going crazy. Any idea whether you think you may be able to fix this on your end? Or?

Here's another thread describing the same or similar problem with xport and iguidance. Also suggestions for workarounds.

EDIT: I just realized this 'problem' was because the Demo track on my PC was not actually running. After I hit 'START' everything worked as expected. David, I think you need to make sure that the FTP status update dialog is more accurate, such that if no FTP is being made, it does not state 'successful' etc.
Hello again. I am posting because I have spent a good deal of time trying to deal with some errors/problems I have been experiencing with GoopS. Let's try and attack one problem at a time.
First of all, the FTP feature does not work correctly for me. This has nothing to do with hibernation or Xport3 etc, I am testing this in my home PC without hibernation or Xport3, and have the same issue as in my carPC. It's easy to reproduce!
The problem is that I believe the kml file is being uploaded via FTP only once, and never again after that. (Unless I close/reopen GooPs)
Reproduce:
1) Set up GoopS to upload via FTP every 7 seconds.
2) Watch the GoopS FTP dialog, and it will say 'Update Successful' etc.
3) Now, if you keep on looking, it will continue to say 'Successful', minute past minute, past minute. But it is not really doing anything, and here's how to prove it:
4) Delete file from your FTP server (leave GoopS running).
5) Refresh file list in FTP server periodically, and you will notice the file NEVER appears.
6) Goops will continue saying 'Update successful every 7 seconds.... not true!
Alternatively, instead of deleting the file in step 4, try this, which may be a hint to what's going on...
...
4) Change server name to something garbled like: kjfhsvhhvkjfdhnfdgffgd.xyz
5) Goops will continue saying 'Update successful every 7 seconds.... not true!
or even try this!
...
4) Disconnect from the Internet, Pull ethernet cable!
5) Goops will continue saying 'Update successful every 7 seconds.... not true!
David, can you look into this please, as a start? Thanks! I'm available to help debug, test etc, via PM.

Can anyone confirm whether FTP upload is working for you within GoopS, EVEN AFTER HIBERNATION? I'm pulling my hairs with this!

I have the problem too with version 2.2.
I got some help from David before and thought the problem was sorted but it wasn't when I just checked.
I have "clear track at startup" and "copy then rename".
(reason why I did not notice is that I have not yet installed in car)
It is possible that the problem was sorted but reintroduced when I updated to version 2.2

At least in my case, we have narrowed down the issue to the fact that 'sporadically', apparently my GPS logs a single data point in the future, and after that occurs, the code just ignores any further data points, and does not FTP any longer.
I think David is looking into this.

I do get occational (rare) uploads. I have not seen a pattern to when this happens, but it is not in "the future".
Is upload always supposed to take place, even if there is no change in position David?
Sorry that I do not have more info, I just wanted to confirm that I also have problems. I am currently working on a small microcontroller system to generate proper signal sequencies at power up.
I use hibernation and it seems like GPS gate is working as well as reconnection to internet.

I'll be putting a fix in for the out of sequence timestamp. I'll also put an option in to do the FTP upload even if no new points are received. I'll release a beta in the next couple of days

Perfect! Thanks.
FYI, I noticed my 'out of date' time stamps correspond to Latitude/Longitude= 0, 0. Must be when the GPS is locking on initially...?
Maybe that helps you filter out the bad stuff in code...

Can't get goop to update
I'm having a problem with goop. Everthing works great except that I have to continue to hit the autoupdate button to get goop to update. Anybody out there got any ideas.

Hello everybody
I am a gpsgate.com user and I am trying to use GooPs in order to see my buddys registered on gpsgate.com moving in google Earth. I have set up everything as described in forums here and gpsgate.com but it doesnt seem to work. If I try the "demo" everything works, but I am not able to get data from the server of gpsgate.com. In the GooPs page it says "disconnected"... what should I do to have it connect?
Also, when I add new vehicle, should i put the host "gpsgate.com" or "online.gpsgate.com"? I tried both and neither works. Thanks for the support.

Hi Mark,
"Disconnected" means you are not connected to a GPS. It doesn't need to be connected for the gpsgate stuff to work.
You should use gpsgate.com when you add a new vehicle.
You should use online.gpsgate.com in the external server setup dialog.
I just tried and I am able to see my buddies, try tracking "goops".
Make sure "Enable" is selected in the gpsgate external app dialog.
Make sure there are on trailing or leading spaces in any of the name or password fields.
I'll put some debug code in and release here http://goopstechnologies.com/beta/GooPsPro2_3Beta.exe
Open the GooPs options dialog, select the "Enable Debug Log" checkbox, run for a minute with gpsgate enabled, then send me the file "goopsDebug.log".
However, for some reason GooPs is not able to upload new data to the gpsgate server. I'll have to dig into it.
