I released a beta with a fix for the out of sequence timestamps and an option to force FTP updates (look in the FTP client dialog).

Latest beta release is here http://goopstechnologies.com/beta/GooPsPro2_3Beta.exe

Try the latest beta release here: http://goopstechnologies.com/beta/GooPsPro2_3Beta.exe

If that doesn't work, go to the options dialog, check the "Enable debug log" box, run for a minute, then send the file "goopsDebug.log" to mygoops@gmail.com

You should use gpsgate.com when you add a new vehicle.
You should use online.gpsgate.com in the external server setup dialog.
I just tried and I am able to see my buddies, try tracking "goops".
Make sure "Enable" is selected in the gpsgate external app dialog.
Make sure there are on trailing or leading spaces in any of the name or password fields.

I'll put some debug code in and release here http://goopstechnologies.com/beta/GooPsPro2_3Beta.exe

Open the GooPs options dialog, select the "Enable Debug Log" checkbox, run for a minute with gpsgate enabled, then send me the file "goopsDebug.log".

However, for some reason GooPs is not able to upload new data to the gpsgate server. I'll have to dig into it.

Hi, I am trying again and still it is not working. Where can I put online.gpsgate.com in the external server setup dialog? I only see that it asks for username, password and update interval. I see the cursor in google Earth, but it is at the equator. I will send you the debug log. Thank you!

From the data you sent it looks like you are getting updates from gpsgate, but the NMEA checksum is invalid, I will investigate.

That is definitely a bad nmea checksum, GooPs won't take nmea data unless the checksum is either valid or 0.

I'm surprised that the gpsgate server would accept the data with an invalid checksum.

David, Can you embed Google earth within your application?

The skinbedder skin no longer works with the current Google earth/Goops versions.

Hi spadival,

I don't have any plans to embed Google Earth in GooPs. What kind of capabilities are you looking for?

I'm trying to figure out the autozoom.cfg file. Is there an example file? My minimum rotate speed isn't working.
Is there a full list of autozoom recognized commands somewhere?
Thanks.

Hi doni,

Check this:
http://goopstechnologies.com/faq.htm...application_to

There is sample code and executable here:

Try this:
http://goopstechnologies.com/faq.htm...oView_behavior

How can I change the AutoView behavior?

The AutoView configuration file allows you to control the range, tilt, and cursor icon based on your current speed.

To define your own AutoView configuration table: (this is a little complicated, if you mess it up you can just delete the file and GooPs will use defaults)

Create a file called autoview.cfg in the directory GooPs is running from

Enter lines/rows as follows:
  • Each line/row in the file designates a speed in mph, a range in feet, a tilt in degrees, and a path to an image or model file separated by commas.
  • The speed is the minimum speed for which this row’s factors will be applied
  • The factors will be applied until the current speed reaches the speed designated in the following row.
  • A negative range or tilt factor will cause the factor to be applied absolutely for given row.
  • A positive range or tilt factor will cause the factor to be adjusted between this row’s factor and the next row’s factor based on current speed.
  • For example the following table:
0,-1000,-80,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar1.png
5,800,70,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar2.png
20,3000,50,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar3.dae
50,3000,45

Will produce this behavior:
  • From 0 to 5 mph - range will be 1000 ft, tilt will be 80 degrees, mycar1.png will be displayed at the current position
  • From 5 to 20 mph - range will increase linearly from 800 to 3000 ft based on current speed, tilt will decrease linearly from 70 to 50 degrees based on current speed, mycar2.png will be displayes at the current position
  • From 20 to 50 mph - range will be 3000 ft, tilt will decrease linearly from 50 to 45 degrees, mycar3.dae will be displayed at the current position
  • Above 50 mph - range will increase from 3000 to infinity base on current speed, tilt will be 45 degrees, the GooPs 3D cursor will be displayed at the current position
The AutoView configuration table is reparsed with each update so you can experiment with different settings in real-time while running the demo.

Yeah that stuff seems to work but my rotateminimum does nothing.
Also how would I make the animation between gps updating slower and smoother? The GE fly to options have no effect.
Thanks

Here's what RotateMinimum should look like:
<RotateMinimum>.5</RotateMinimum> ; don’t auto-rotate at speeds below .5 mph.

GooPs sets the fly to when it moves the GE view, I would need to expose the parameter for it to be adjustable.

That would be really cool if you could do that or else let GE handle it. I had GE running really smoothly with gpsgate since it used the GE fly to settings.

Does anyone know of a way to disable the whole unable to sign in warning thing on startup? It's cause GE to not embed properly unless it is already running.

Here's a beta with adjustable Fly-to Speed setting (see the GooPs Options dialog): http://goopstechnologies.com/beta/GooPsPro2_4Beta.exe
