How do you bring your system back from hibernation ?
as my setup is similar to the one in your cobra
The module replicates/duplicates you pressing the button, so when the car is turned on, the module 'presses' the button and turns the system ON (from hibernation or whatever).
To turn the system OFF, you can press the remote button, or have the Windows power management set to go into hibernation when power is lost (car turned off - This is really for laptop setups - so it will be a graceful shutdown).

Great
That's what I needed to clarify in my muddled head
So if I got a carnetix 1900 and one of your modules then I would be good to go ?
As I am having trouble with my connection to your website can you drop me a line with how much for one of your modules to the UK
Cheers

Actually if you're going to be using the carnetix 1900, you don't need one of my modules, as the carnetix has the same functions built in. Just check the site (here or the carnetix site) for more info on hooking it up.

right now I am really confused
Your Cobra sig says you are using a Laptop, a Carnetix 1900 and your module ??
So are my power options for running a Laptop :-
1) 19v DC/DC ciggy car power adapter and your module
2) Carnetix 1900
Everytime I think I have this install straight in my head it all goes

If you look at my worklog/install thread it has my new setup, I just haven't updated the other stuff. Guess I need to now. lol. Sorry about that.
You are correct, those are the options you have.

Just read 15 pages of this section and keep seeing it said that I will still have to do the power button hack with the C1900 ???
Is that right ?

Yes that is correct. The best solution is to use the plug / jack setup illustrated.

W3bMa5t3r,
Got the module in the mail the otherday and everything looks good and well done but I have got a couple quick questions for you that may help others:
Re: the mono jack,
Does it have to be a mono jack? I am thinking not. I have a pretty tight place in the laptop that is the best place for me to put it. Can I just use another small 2 wire connector?
Re: Multiple items,
can you use the same module to switch two devices by splitting the 2 red leads? Id like to turn on the Lilli at the same time, can I just use the mono jack there and make two more leads going to my laptop?

You are correct, you can use any two conductor connector. I include the mono plug/jack because they're quick, cheap and easy to use. Everyone thus far hasn't had a problem, but you are by no means restricted to using them.
I don't see why you can't use it for two devices, you would just have to split off the connection going to the laptop.

Ok so I decided to make my own module because i wanted power on working NOW and didnt want to wait.
Let me tell you. GO ahead and buy it from W3bMa5t3r
I already spent like 50 bucks making this. Just buying random things. And I still forgot the damn box to put it in.
Switch $2, bought two different ones cuz one looked prettier at radioshack
PCB $3 for two
Relay 12v $5
Relay 5v $5
Relay 12v $5 Yes i bought another relay by mistake...
Wire 100ft $8
Wire 50ft $5
Screw Terminal $3
Resistors $1
Capacitor $4
Power Jack $3
Power Plug $2
and I still need to hack apart a usb cable(Have them) and a case($5?)
radioshack/fry's sucks. Shoulduve just ordered them, or made a digikey order since I do need some stuff from digikey.
The screw down terminals are being used as such.
1 Screw terminal block is for usb
1 Is for the power/ground
1 is for the output switch/bypass switch

Yeah building it myself gave me a reason to bring out the soldering iron again. Fun times.
still expensive buying locally. Forgot how much so. Could have cut cost in half if i shopped online for parts and waited

quick question
USB circuit keeps the relay forced on for a long period of time. Is this really safe for the life of the relay. whats the lifespan on them anyways?

There are probably HUNDREDS of relays in devices you use everyday. Infact, there are probably hundreds in your car already. These particular relays have no moving parts and should outlast your carputer and your car.
