But when i first open the APP it flashes green once and thats it!

WHEWWW lol I'm glad it's working for you The track to log can be automatic if you set the settings in the menu bar at the top. It will start logging when the program is run. Otherwise you have to press the button Track To Log. If you save an offline log, when you do have connection you just have to select UPLOAD LOG TO SERVER, from the top menu

The gps connect/disconnect isn't really that per se. It's actually the buffer for the received data from the gps receiver. So if you're connected, it will be green, UNTIL you start tracking or logging, then, because the program is using the data, it will be red or alternating between the two. If that's the case, you'll know you're connected because you will be seeing the GPS data sentences in their area. Hope that clears that up... Let me know if you encounter any bugs/errors... I tried to run it every way possible to squash any, but someone will always do something I won't have foreseen..

Later...

Cheekz185 will become famous soon enough
Well i went to school today, I test the GPS log and it worked! BUT The time it took to upload the log was god awful. It took about 8-10 minutes to upload the log. I went to school from my GF's house which roughly takes 20 min one way. So it was about a 40min trip total that was logged. And it really took a long time. Is that supposed to be like that? Or is there any way to make it upload faster because the size of the log file was only 14kb.

What about creating a database on the server that STORES your trips like on a calendar. Lets say Today March 13 u had 3 trips....u would click on march 13 and it would list the 3 trips like Trip 1 / Trip 2/ Trip 3 then click what ever trip and it would show u the route. Maybe by just uploading the saved LOG file itself to the server, it would go much faster!

working good for me. I'll go for a ride later for a better test. By any change can you make the program able to hide to the system tray? Oh and when I click on the points on the Google map it brings up a blank notification area. Would it be possible (and not time consuming for you) to send time, date, speed.... to that area for each point? Anyways great job. I'd like to see someone try and steal my car this time.

Glad it's working for you. I'll work on adding the minimize to tray feature tonight along with seeing about the offline upload to work faster or have an actual upload on the server... or something. I'll think about it...
As far as the google map piece... that was working but somehow I broke it... I'll get it fixed. It was supposed to display your username, speed, time, etc... I'll see what I can do to get it working again...

Sounds good. I just went a little drive a notice a clicking sound every time it uploads data. I thought I was crazy at first, but it seems to be coming for the app.

It works!! Just tried v1.8 in the car and it worked! Haven't played with the uploading log feature yet, but the normal operation works fine with xport here.

Question: On the website map, is there supposed to be any info in those dialog boxes that pop up when clicking on one of the track pushpins.

Wishlist: - Have the ability to allow someone to view my position on the website without having "password/username" combo..... Like a checkbox on the site or something on an "admin" page that I can check to allow/not allow someone else to just go to my specific address to see where the car is at.

Great seems to be working with my BU-303 and my "work supplied EVDO card"

Great Google Map application!!! 2 thumbs up

Wishlist: smaller pushpins (probably not achievable) and a Network link to add to Google Earth

Ok guys, got the info boxes fixed. Seems when I redesigned the map views and made the background black, with with text/font white, the google map used the white font as well so the text was actually blended into the info box. So I've adjusted it to be black for just that area and it's all good now. I'll be tackling all the other things... stay tuned

Hey guys... Since there was a request to allow others to view your map without using your credentials, I've added that feature to your pages. Just select allow public view and hit submit. It'll show you what mode your map is in. For the 'guest' to login, they need to click on the 'guest login' link from the main login page. You'll need to give them your username, but that's it. If you haven't set your map for public viewing they will get an access denied. Let me know what you think. I'm working on the other requests... let me know if there's anything else you can think of...
Cheers... The W3bMa5t3r

Ok W3bMa5t3r,

I checked the 1.9 version and regarding the server is perfect (User IDs)
Now about the client there is a question. When you execute the W3bTrack and you don't select any job the globe icon frashes green & red. I think this is normal but there is no Connected Sats info. When I select Logging Data the globe becomes steady green (normal) but still no indication on the Connected Sats window. When I select Start Tracking .....
a) The Program Status window indicates Tracking, Current Data Sentence window displays nothing, Connected Sats window still nothing and the globe icon is permanently red. If I press Stop Tracking and then Start Tracking again the Current Data Sentence window displays the data, Connected Sats window still nothing and the globe icon is permanently red.

And another thing which is a little bit strange: Why does it take so long to synchronize with the GPS when press Start Tracking comparing to Track to Log?

After 5-6 execution of the W3bTrack if behaves differently each time. The 3rd time I managed Start Tracking and had Green Globe icon and then I started to debug the problem.
Final:
1) There is no indication of Connected Sats
2) The globe icon flashes. If you request an action while Red it remains Red.
If you request it while Green it remains green.

That's all for now....

I think that if you stop flashing the globe and just indicate if you have Gps data the globe Green and if not the Globe red will partially solve the problem.

I think that if you stop flashing the globe and just indicate if you have Gps data the globe Green and if not the Globe red will partially solve the problem.

The red/green globe flashing is just stating there is data to be read, but the program doesn't do anything with gps data until you tell it to, or you have it on autostart (log or track), so no display of sats/gps data until you're running a function. I have made a few changes to the code so there is a more reliable indication, and fixed the bug where it stayed in one color or the other if you started a function while it was displaying that color globe. The reason for the flash getting stuck on one or the other was I had the port connection indicator in the wrong loop of code (I actually needed to reference it to the two function loops), so it should do much better now.

The time difference in between the tracking and logging is that logging is simply writing the data sentence to the log file, nothing is done with the data until you upload it to the server (which is why it takes a little bit of time to upload the logs). When tracking, you're pull 2 of 3 sentences, pulling the data from each one as needed, doing calculations on speed and hemisphere (for the correct "-", depending if you're N W S E), and a few other things, and then transmitting it to the server and starting all over again.. If you have the upload freq set to 1500 (1.5 seconds) the average loop time is actually about 4-8 seconds depending on your internet connection speed.

I thought I fixed the sat indication while tracking, but I'll check again. When logging, again the reason there is nothing shown (like Sats) is because everything is just written to the log file directly, without any data manipulation. The data isn't worked with till you upload it to the server.

Ok... well off I go to check out the sats..

Here I am again....

The icon pb is not solved.
The sats indication is correct but it is not displayed always. (Probably you have two or more entry loops and only one refreshes the sats window the other don't.
