Smile Virtual Keyboard 1.0.0.3 with Sources

Hi,
I thought that OSK would be very difficult to use on a small screen in a car, so I have developed Virtual Keyboard. The keys and the key layout is generated at runtime. It should be OS language independent. Can someone test it and let me know what you think about it. I haven't tested it on Touch screen but if the Touch screen driver just acts as like a mouse it should not have any problem

When you run the application a keyboard icon is placed on the top left of the screen. Clicking that shows and hides the keyboard. The icon always stays on top. To close the application right click on the icon

Following fixes has been made
1.0.0.2:
1) Icon Drag can be disabled from the ini File
2) Hide Btn available on the keyboard (user Defined Position)
3) generation of Dead keys.
4) icon Dragging problem
5) Save last position of Keyboard on Exit.
6) generation of chars when shift key is clicked and caps lock is on

1.0.0.3:
1) On Clicking the Icon, the focus is not lost from the current application

1.0.0.5
1) The Keyboad Dragging can also be diabled
2) Size in percentage can be set in the ini file

satish

Nice program. I played a while with it and i like it.
Would be nice if you could also save the position of the
keyboard on exit, and restore the keyboard there when started.
When all keys are defined, there will be a problem moving the keyboard
using a touchscreen (no place to hold the keyboard with a finger)`

There are a few little problems ;

the shift-6 character ^ is not on the keyboard but generates
a ^ when pressed.
the \ character is twice defined.
Why are the F6 -F12 keys not defined ?

Clicking or dragging the icon causes the icon top left corner to jump to the mouse pointer.

Other than that, pretty cool.

I agree much more useful than XP OSK, I will try it tonight on a touchscreen.

^ was there for me

There was some kind of odd problem that caused all of my open windows to minimize and then none would restore. I could click them in the taskbar, but the wouldn't pop back open. I had to ALT-TAB to one to get it to restore and then they were all OK again.

Very nice. All keys defined (exp F6-12) correctly for me. ^ works and only one \.
I asume I can 'skin' it by just swapping the Jpeg? Keep this thread updated with your next update.
Will def be using it if i ever fix my screen...

Quick Request

Your OSK looks great! I just have small request. Is there any way you could add the ability to remove the dragging function of the small keyboard icon? A simple switch in the config file would be great. I just don't want to accidentally move the icon to launch the app while I'm driving.

Is the source code available?

Thanks!

Andy

Could be just my setup, but I cannot move it to my secondary display. It'll drag over there just fine, but when I release the mouse, it jumps back to primary.

I would request this too. As pointer jumps to top left of icon it would be very hard (immpossible) to put back in top left with a touch screen and finger! was thinking could match icon in with Skin so becomes 'invisable'. Top left corner, not draggable would be good. Also is only way to shut it down by going ctrl alt del? although not really a prob a guess.
well done so far.

It worked fine for me to enter a web address in IE but I couldn't add text in Notepad, Wordpad or Word.

I could alt/tab and get the task switcher but it didn't seem to switch the task.

I had IE on top and Word below and when I selected Word, IE still was on top.

Maybe a button on the main keyboard that would make it disappear instead of using the little one.

F2-F12 Keys

The F6 to f12 keys are present, to use it all u have to do is define the rectangle where u want the Key. Also the Function keys names are not generated on runtime so you will have to put it on the jpg. Its just to demonostate that the keys you don't want on the keyboard can be disabled by putting a 0,0,0,0 in the ini file.
