yep, that one worked better!

Now should I tell you about how it tries to re-route from the motorway onto nearby roads?? i.e. where there isn't a junction!

You sneaky guy planting bugs!!!

I never got that bug but I got a single crash lastnight though when i tried hit one of the buttons (can't remember which one but i will check after work) when there was no address in the selection box.

Also another thing is not really a bug but there needs to be a way to turn off auto zoom especially when you are rerouting a lot.

Rerouting is a little buggy: When i enter in .5 for threshold to rerout in the .INI file it reroutes every 1 second or so (this has to be wrong). Then i see many screen flashes and autozooming.

Also how do you set perfernces like take Freeways instead of local roads or take fastest/shortest route?

I will test out the new version tonight

Have you came up with a list of functions. I have been brainstorming ideas for menus

Cheers

Thumbs up

Wow! This is great! Well done this is truly excellent! I did have an error message the first time I ran it, but I think that was due to not sorting the .ini files properly.

I've been testing it in the house using a load of NMEA data I recorded at the weekend for various routes I'd driven and replaying them through the com port using a couple of apps (I'll post details if anyone else wants them)

Noticed there isn't any screen shots anywhere I could see yet, so i've taken a snapshot of it in use...

Great work!!!

Just got mine in also, and it looks great.

One noob style question: how do you save routes?

TIA,
Per

I don't know how you save routes. I don't think you can right now.

I havn't installed the newest version yet but i found a bug or inconpatability with the old version and MediaCar.

This is what happens:

I am running mediacar 1.9.1b and pointed to the navigation application as an external program. When i use the use the MediaCar "close" button (when the navagation application is running embedded) i get 2 errors and a Mappoint crash.

first error:
"An outgoing Call cannot be made since the application is dispatching an input-synchrounous call"

Then it asks me if I want to save destination.mps

If i click no I het the map point crash error asking if i want to send this information to microsoft

If i click yes to save i get the second error:
"Object is not connected to server"

This may be a problem with MediaCar and the embedded mode but i thought you should know about it.

Another thing with the interface (minor skin issue). I think that the exit button should be far away from the up button (the button that gives you all of the other options) like on the opposite side. I could probably change this within the skin myself but just a thought for future versions.

SilentAdmirer, how is it comming with the list of functions so we can start designing a menu tree. I can do most of the foot work but i just need to know what is the list of features that we need to creat buttons for.

Cheers

I have made a note of all the problem you are having. Give me a day or two I think I can solve most of them.

Antimatter:
you should have the list this weekend . Let me see what else will be useful in the app. Every one can give me some kind of list they would like to see.

S4Per:
In the settings menu there are 2 lst box one for the list of places matching with the search. When you add it to the second list by '+' and then click on tick it should save the route. If not then you have found a bug in the app

Another thing that would help emensly is to have application interpret a tap&hold event as a right click.

I can use the context menus that are available within mappoint (like add as a start, add as an end etc.)

I don't know if this is something that can be done within the application or if it is driver specific. Anyhow it would be very helpful

Thanks for your dedication

Cheers

I think what he was referring to was to store a list of frequently used addresses like a history of addresses.

I am planning to put History and favorite places in the next future. But rite now I think it better to remove the bug before I move on to more features.

antimater:
I will download latest Media Car and test if I can reproduce the bug. Does it occur when you are moving ?. Tap and Hold should be possible through the Application let me try, I have got some idea.

BTW do you guys think there should be a fullscreen Map mode ?

OK. enough for today. off to bed. Cya guys on Sunday.

That's it :-) I think that's huge: if you can't save destinations and recall them at will, the value of the software is much degraded. Glad to hear it's up and coming.

So - the one million dollar question: what's your timetable like? When do you expect to have the next version available?

Thanks much!
