I'm trying to get it working on Windows 98 (on my spare car pc running 98lite). It works however it crashes and complains of 'server busy'. It always crashes after planning a route, I am guessing it is a problem with the speech stuff as it's not installed on the machine.
I'm downloading the speech SDK from the microsoft site in the hope that that fixes the problem, though I've chosen the 150 MB version to be on the safe side.
If it works after installing I'll let you know.

maybe i'm doing something wrong, but i cant get the program to run. Well, it runs, but i don't see the map. I only see the date and time. It looks like an empty box. I have everything in one folder (ini,dll) and i've edited the ini files to use the the american version of mappoint and use miles. Could it be that i need to set my display at a certain resolution?
any help would be appreicated.
thanks.

Can you tell us a little more about your operating system and hardware. Also what software do you have (mappoint 2002 or 2004)

I will leave this up to SilentAdmirer. I have it running on Windows XP sp1 with Mappoint 2004 N America. Works like a charm. Maybe try reinstalling both Mappoint and the this application

@anitmatter
Sorry wasn't at home this weekend so could not do any thing.
@ozoffi
Coyote has given me the permission to use the pointer images from MediaCar till I make one and replace.In the next version the pointer will be the same like media car.
@stevieg
The reason is SAPI. It has to be installed before running the application.
Please let me know if it works
@suprthug8d
Do you have the skin directory with all the jpgs and skini.ini in
<AppDir>\skin\Radar. I think thats the problem you are facing

Thanks! i got it to start up. I haven't tested the rest of the program, but at least it's working now.
I didn't know that there was a skin/radar folder within the skin folder i extracted. After i extracted the skin.zip file i just dragged that folder into the main folder without looking what was inside that folder.
Thank you for the help.
Has anyone heard of AGPS? that would be a great application to integrate with. It works as a plug-in for MP 2004, and i find it to be very useful.

I've tried using AGPS and found it useless with a touchscreen (and no keyboard) which is why I'm so glad to see this offering as an alternative!

AGPS is a very nice program. But as stevieg said its not very useful when using it without keyboard and with touchscreen. BTW that's the addin that inspired me to try to make this application .

I am about to buy a GPS soon. From all of the posts I've read, it seems the Deluo is one of the most accurate models out there so I was leaning towards getting one of those.
Has anyone tested the Deluo w/This Mod & MapPoint 2004 N America yet. If not, what models are you guys using and how happy are you with your GPS and this setup? I just want to make sure whatever GPS I buy, I have more than one option to choose from when using Mapping software...

This software does not use Mappoint's GPS abilities. It interfaces directly with your GPS device and the serial port. As long as your device is IMEA compliant then you should be fine. I've tested DashPC with the Delorme EarthMate and it works well.

SilentAdmirer,
I shouldn't have opened my mouth about AGPS before i got to test it. I am very impressed with dashPC. It does all the things that i wanted but would've have had to pay if I were using AGPS.
I think someone mentioned this before, but maybe there should be a feature to save directions like MP does with the drop down window.
Something else that could be helpful for first time users would be to have a little window pop up when the user paused over a button for a few seconds. Like alt tags in HTML.
I'm also having trouble with my voice commands. I have tested to make sure that my mic works in the control panel and everything seems to be fine. When i try to use the voice command, "computer ...," nothing seems to happen. Maybe I just have a crappy mic.
I hope you are not offended with my opinions and take them as constructive criticism.
Again, awesome program and keep up the great work.

Soon I will be ready with the next version which would more of the bug fixes of the previous version and some other features. Then I will start a thread for features.
Try updating your voice profile from the control panel->speech->speech Reco->train profile. Also After computer give a very small pause.
How can I be offended ?? Its because of you people that the software is being tested. I could not test the software all by myself, its almost impossible to find most of the bugs. A programmer is a worst tester for his own program . Ultimately our aim is to have an good usable application for the car . Together with the members of mp3car we can make a wonderful software for all
