Yep I've done that for it - some are right, some are very wrong! Not sure whether they are in the wrong lat/lon format, apparently there are diferent ones apart from WGS84 and radial calcuations etc but I know nothing about the calculations etc

Heres an example of how the Route 66 data is right for some and wrong for others. the first example is right, the second is hundreds of miles out!

Any ideas?

The "wrong" one has the decimal point in the wrong place for the lon. There's only 5 digits so -5.1655 should be -0.51655 :-)

However, i've looked online for this stuff before and wasnt able to find anything that would give me a feed that i can interpret, such as xml,etc. Toronto uses a system called COMPASS, they do provide camera pictures and some information about area's that have problems on their page which is updated using some sort off a ghetto way. If you look at their source code for their site you can see where they use a programm to replace the code with new chunk every whatever minutes.

Thanks. Now the UK Route 66 TMC data will download correctly.

Anyone have any ideas about the german/french ones etc?

Route 66 supports:

Neatherlands, France, Italy, German and GB... The command line has the

Italy = ITA
Germany = DEU
UK = ENG

Except of UK all other regions does not seem to have lat/lon .

Steve,

I have some RDS / TMC links on my site that you may be intrested in - there is also a link to an application for the PC.

Other sources you could look at are traffic master ( if you could hack the code from the shockwave version from the Vauxhall site ) ancd the same for the www.getmethere.co.uk site... pplease I think AA and RAC do the same ( not that I am a saddo that goes out looking for these things lol ).

I'm wondering if you could have an overlay of some kind with Destinator witch gives the ablity to change routes if needs be ? That WOULD be cool. Along with GPRS your away...

Weel I don't know if you've tried VOICES that SilentAdmirer is developing, but the idea is that VOICES will have this feature built in and adjust it's route accordingly.

The main data sources I think that are needed now though are outside the UK for Europe and US etc as the only thing better than the current data for the UK would be the TrafficMaster data as well

Sounds good, the idea is the data will be available for anyone to use in as many formats as is needed.
