Auto install for drivers.
Here is my problem :
Each time I connect a new USB device (USB stick, USB HDD, etc...), the wizard for install drivers prompt, I need to click next, XP find the drivers and install them (no cd needed).
Is there a way to force XP to install drivers automatically, without prompting?
I think in Registeries but don't know where.
Thank you.

You'd have to have the drivers already ont eh system for XP to find.
Then have the registry point to those drivers for various devices.

I am not sure to have understood all you said.
I remember an old install of XP Home edition (I am curently on XP ultimate) that the first time I connected an USB drive for exemple, the drivers were automatically installed, without doing anything.
I would like the same result.

Are you using a stripped down version like TinyXP or something?
If so, the drivers have probably been stripped out in the name of saving space.
If you are using a full-on copy of WinXP, I have no idea why it won't automatically detect memory sticks. The driver files are either missing or corrupt.
My apologies for the previous response. I misread your post.

It dectect automatically USB device but not install ITSELF the drivers. It need my intervention.
XP ultimate version is a full XP version (modified because of added features but not less features).
I think the drivers are not missing in this install because I no need any CD to install USB device, I just need to click "next" ("suivant" in french) in the dialog box which appears when I plug the device (see the joined picture - sorry it is in french but i hope you will reconize this dialog box). After that , Xp find itself the good drivers and instal them.
I want to skip this step of clicking "next"...

I know what you mean, its annoying.
A device which is already installed will prompt for drivers again if its not inserted in exactly the same socket (and using hubs makes it worse) yet will then find the drivers on its own with no need for a CD or Web.
I haven't seen anyway round it but a snoop around the registry might reveal something
