giveio.sys system restarts
Any one come accross a problem where there PC gets to the point of loading 'giveio.sys' and then either hangs or goes in to a reboot frenzy..
I can not get in to the system via Safe Mode, Last known good configuration etc.. I have been reading around and understand that giveio.sys is installed by a third party application, the only thing i can think of that installed this was the Sirius Drivers for my reciever..
If anyone has seen this and or has a fix i'd appreciate it..
Thanks..

Try unplugging all USB devices and booting again. I can't remember where this file comes from, but I remember seeing it installed after plugging in a USB card reader.
Also, go thru the typical troubleshooting... have you moved your machine at all? Might be worth a shot to check everything inside, reseat the ram, ya know, that junk.

I'd suggest if that doesn't work, pop in an XP cd and run a repair install. Seems this problem could be cause by all kinds of crazy stuff by looking on Experts Exchange.

Tidder, thanks for the heads up I did see the USB card reader thing I guess i will try unplugging all USB and see if that helps otherwise I can fall back to removing the giveio.sys from a rescue CD since its a 3rd party driver

yeah, only prob is it may reinstall if you plug back in the USB device that required it, if that's where it came from. Beats me! Lots of junk to read on Experts Exchange about it. I think you can sign up for a free Experts account so you can see the solutions to posted problems, if you don't have an acct.
