won't let me install windows help!?

i can boot from disk etc. then it copies all the files over on the blue dos screen, it gets to the point where it says files copied, starting windows or words to that effect then pop - THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! tried restarting, same happens, tried 3 different versions of windows and no joy.

mini xp installs but causes me problems once i'm at the desktop because there is nothing on it to do anything with, plus ideally i want to run media centre edition.

any help please?

Bad RAM is a definite possibility. Do a memtest.
