Hi guys. This will be my first attempt at a car PC and I'm slowly getting there after months of research. At the moment I'm trying to get my PC to boot as quickly as possible. I'm running XP (heavily nLited) on a D945GCLF2 (the mini-ITX dual core atom board) with 1GB RAM. At the moment my cold boot times are around 30-35 seconds.
What I've done so far:
- Changed to minlogon
- Removed unwanted startup items from the registry
- Stopped unnecessary services
- Optimized the BIOS
- Removed themes/eye candy/special effects
- Removed unneeded fonts
There's probably some other minor tweaks I've done too. I've been through the stickies and done most of the things I could. Anyone think its possible to improve on this? How do some people get 15/20 second boot times?
Cheers for your help!
P.S This forum is fantastic! With you folks help, I've managed to get a lot of my PC planned and done without the need to post here :P Thanks!
