Is the latest version of minlogon.exe the one in post 4 of this thread?

Used directions from SFiorito and EWF file posted for minlogon. I am note using EWF just minlogon.

300mhz PII
192megs rams
TinyXP rev04
Bootvis

Winlogon -> 42 sec
Minlogon -> 36 sec

Note I can't get Bootvis optimization to complete. It may be related to items slimmed in TinyXP?

Thanks for such a great write up!

you should do bootvis before you do minlogon... and if that doesnt work.. then its a missing component cos of TinyXP

I tried bootvis optmize before and after minlogon. Both times, it loads the screen but never finishes. I left it for 30 minutes and it didn't seem like it was doing anything.

yep same here
VIA C3 1Ghz, 512MB RAM, and IIRC 5200 hard drive->30 Seconds
I'm hoping with minlogon I can get it down to 20 or less

EWF.zip

Amazing thread !!!!

At the weekend I will try on my computer.

One question on the EWF.zip found previously in this thread. The files are for SP1 or SP2 ??

Problem- I followed the directions, but Minlogon has me stuck on the 'welcome' screen, and nomatter what account I pick ( I know it's not supposed to have accounts) it logs in, saves settings, and puts me back on the 'welcome' screen. What to do?

**EDIT** Sorry, didn't search or read the thread. I hosed my system :-) Luckily, I have been meaning to upgrade the HDD :-P I hate installing XP with no CDROM!

Hurray! I got it working. My carputer (A wardriving laptop, hooked in to the stereo and car-mounted antenna) now boots in 45 seconds from 1:20 (From power on to Longrun popup, the end of ALL booting)! Thanks!

I am having the 'slow' Start Menu one of the other users was experiencing.... Was there a fix for it? Also, I cant get "Logoff SYSTEM" out of the start menu.... It's disabled in TweakUI!

Try removing the option for personalized start menu and disable logoff option in the start menu configuration (not TweakUI). just suggestions, haven't tried them myself.

I just did mine yesterday.

It's a frustrating job, as the WFP keeps replacing the darn minlogon file with the winlogon even after I follow the instructions.

Frankly, I was trying to hose the system, atleast I can go to sleep and not having to pull out my hair figuring how to do it!

I googled on how to disable WFP and found this:

http://arstechnica.com/tweak/win2k/o...ble_sfp-1.html

Very useful. I tried disabling it with the registry hack, still no go. I ended up going to the dllcache and replace the damn winlogon file with the minlogon.

Viola... Done!

Oh, and I did the minlogon registry hack before I replace the file. So the sequence doesn't matter. At least in my case.

It's much faster now... Now if only I have a fast computer!

I'm using my own nlited XP version. Bootvis = no problem. Can optimize and trace.

BT kinda works. I can transfer files between the phone and comp, but not logging onto internet via GPRS. It says some missing files?

A lil update. Out of curiosity I did a whole new install this time round.

Hardware:
PCChips M789 800Mhz C3 Samuel
256mb ram
80G 7200rpm HDD

Software:
Custom nLite XP Pro SP2
Minlogon
Bootvis
TweakUI

Cold boot = 25secs
Resume from hibernation: 20secs

I got the BT to work now. I just need to uninstall then reinstall. Still hasn't tried the USB Wifi though.

Oh and another thing, Not all mobos/drivers likes the combination of nLite and minlogon.

I've tried on another mobo with the same software above... Took me 1:30 minutes to coldboot! And that's on a 2.66G Celeron!

Running into an issue trying to run Street Deck and MinLogon.

Wondering if anyone else has run into a problem like this?
