To make it easy for noobs in the future, here is the simplest way of getting just the minlogon working:

1)Download this minlogon.cab file from here: (other links in this thread seem to be dead)
http://thuun.boot-land.net/index.html

2)double click the minlogon.cab file and copy the minlogon.exe file to your desktop, rename it to winlogon.exe

3)Open notepad, copy the text this text to the notepad, then save the file as "minlogon.reg":

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Config"=dword:00000017

4)Restart the system, tapping F8 to bring up the safe mode list, start in safe mode

5)go to \Windows\System32 and rename winlogon.exe to winlogon.exe.bak
and place the winlogon.exe file you renamed on your desktop into this folder

6)double click the minlogon.reg file to update the registry (if you don't do this you will fark your system.

7) restart and it should start with no login screen, but you will be logged in as system rather than administrator or whatever.

8)get your ctrl-alt-del working http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/winn...-minlogon.html

Followed these instructions to the letter, now i get a bluescreen saying 'thw windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of oxc0000034, the system has been shutdown'

Could it have anything to do with Nlite? i set autologin as the Admin account when I did my last stripped XP disk.

Cant even get in with safe mode

Just an FYI for those curious..
if you slipstream Xp SP3 into your nlite install, you can still use the minlogin from Sp2.

Im using it.

is anyone else getting an error message when shutting down RoadRunner now that they are using minlogon? Whenever I shut down I get the error "Roadrunner.dll failed to initialize" or something to that effect? And the chase for perfection continues.....

Simply using minlogon decreased my boot time from 45 sec to 30 sec. This is from cold boot to the time the hour glass dissapears and the hard drive stops churning.

An easy way to get around the Windows File Protection is to boot into safe mode. The only drawback is that it doesnt allow you to delete files.

I found a copy of minlogon.exe using this site: http://www.GreenMonkies.com/
