SLider thingy wont work as its a still image i think - to make itwork you need an .ini file and im not sure this method will support it!
The new Boot.Zip file posted here does not havethe box for the slider

On win95 and win98 the slider thing was controlled by palette colours. you had to set the last 5-10 colors to a particular colour and change something in the last color to make it cycle. Maybe it's the same this one.

Boys,
I have found a software that and' perfect for customize the boot screen.
You draw your screen (max 5 MB in . jpg or. bmp, 16 color max) on line on the site

http://server1.belchfire.net/Inno_Resize/

You make the upload of your file, and automatically it compresses to you to 150Kb in. bmp, proper to use him as bootscreen.
You make then the download of the sw in the site name " Innologo_pro_10_Beckfire " link its:

http://www.belchfire.net/contentid-24.html

load on your CarPC, copy the file created for your bootscreen in the folder of the sw " WinXP/Main ".

It launches the link on your desktop and it selects the new screen.
You attend the end of the upload and if everything and' ok, to the reboot of your carPC you will find I activate the new bootscreen.

Tested whit XP Pro update of SP1 , perfectly, whit the Epia system , not error initial

EDIT: when you create the new screen from your original file it selects the voice of the " progress bar", it will draw also that in your file.

Total free!!!

Mauri

I can make custom boot screens if anyone needs help. I have made my own with bmw logo beneath it my no. plate and my name, Also i have seen some colour conflicts in Win xp sp2 bootscreens whilst changing them. I have fixed that so all sp2 users can use my bootscreens on there sytems with the standard colour.

Just ask and send me a backrground you want, any extra objects and the style/layout of how you want it. I will make it for you and send it.

Thanks

use one sw to load your new bootscreen ( type my post) or have edit the boot.ini and relative .bmp?
Its in the system32 folder (XP) the original bootscreen of XP and you have change manually whit the new design?
Whit Innologo.exe its simple the change , but in my carpc ( Epia system) i have one short displayed of the new my bootscreen ( 3 seconds) instead the original XP its 5/6 seconds?
You have the same time to displayed your bootscreen ?

Same place as XP. c:\boot.ini

It is hidden. You have to go into your folder options and show hidden files.

@mauri, use booteditor and that will solve all problems. I know that it is 3rd party but its free and doesnt make a second boot screen, it loads current one up and u can use. Just try it:

why you don't try reshacker.....

this program open you ntoskrnl.exe that is locaded on system32 and work three little things:

-background image
-text (default "windows xp)
-slide

and that is it!!!!

or go to http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourcehacker/ better explain.

or try the ready to go boot screens from http://www.themexp.org/listings.php?type=boot&view=date (carefoul with the SP1 and SP2 'cause they are diferent!!!!!
