nLite your Windows of everythig but Event log, apply minlogon, eliminate Administrator profile, delete hibersys.fil and pagefile.sys. Clean you WINDIR folder of *.inf, *.log, *.txt, *.ini and INF, HELP, LastGood, Assembly, Debug, cache, Installer, java, Media, twain_32, registration ans Driver cache folders. Clean SYSTEM32 folder of unused keyboard layouts and language files, DllCache, IME, ias, icsxml, Microsoft, Micromedia, ras, OOBE, web,... folders. Remove fonts you do not use. Apply my patches I have posted in another thread. Remove OEMBIOS.* files in SYTEM32 folder.
Post your size.
Post your tips for useless stuff and-or XPE components that could be removed from WinXP

You can still run Frodoplayer, WMP10, and install the .NET framework with that setup?

Will do, but I've concluded the Lexar will not work. Now I'm looking for a Sandisk Extreme 1G. Hard to find those buggers.
Any sources for one at a reasonable price to Canada?

I have created a 157mb windows xp pro setup WOW thats small. The only thing is tho it has nothing in it but bear needed stuff. I am going to run media engine, phidget kit and streets and trips. I have delete all the plug and play hibra files, and all drivers, fonts and other crap i didnt need. loaded the drivers that came with my board and some other things. So far its running good but i have to test some more.

excuse my ignorance, but what is the advantage of booting from a compact flash, or other small media, I'm assuming boot times? how much faster is it & what are the disadvantages, if any? are there any OTHER advantages? I now have my system wired through an opus & I have a remote start that starts my car as I approach it, or normally it's started & warmed for a little while before I approach it, so I never see anything but a fully booted machine when I enter my car. If I do start while in the car it boots pretty quickly I guess, but obviously the closer to "instant on" you can get, the better. I have never had much sucess with hibernate while stuff is running so I don't play with that anymore...what do you do, have your programs on a seperate hardrive?

One advantage could be you don’t have to worry about a hard head crash with compact flash cards. A laptop drive will reduce it but not eliminate it all together.

Another I think is the temperature changes which effect hard drives, so people in canada have a lot of probs with leaving hard drives in there car in freezing cold conditions.... Flash Cards arent affected in the same way and can resist the cold.

I am using a m8000 board. very quick for 800mhz. I made everything run stable first and then elimated a little at a time. It works pretty well . Also as an addon to turbocad6 compact flash ? you can buy solid state hard drives, but they are $$$$
