Bios is set to shut down immediately. But from what I understand that doesn't get respected by Windows. If I hold it down for 4 seconds, it just cuts out. There was no proper shutdown.

Guess that's what I'll have to do as well. I was hoping my 11th OS install attemp would be my last for while. Guess not.

Ok. Fresh nlited XP install. I just swapped winlogon files and added the one Config entry. Shutdown doesn't work. It worked before the swap to minlogon.

I guess there must be something I'm removing in nlite.

Can somebody with a working minlogon acpi system please post their nlite settings file so I can compare?

Thanks

Holy *****. I create an xp install CD using nlite. I didn't remove any components at all. All I did was add the unattended install part.

Same thing! I add minlogon and ACPI shutdown doesn't work!!! This is a full XP install.
Those of you that have minlogon and ACPI working, do you use an unattended install?

All I'm doing is replacing the winlogon file and add one registry item

Quote:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]

"Config"=dword:00000017

What's going on?!?!

It doesn't work using unattend ... I spent three hours today trying to get it to ACPI etc and it still don't work! I'll keep plugging away - really bugging me as I'm a Systems Engineer by trade and do this sort of thing as my job and I can't even get this right! Grrrrrr

ive just been faffing about with XPe, after 4 days it finally all got here.. anyways, when i added the minlogon component, it wanted me to choose from a range of acpi shizzle for acpi to work.... mybe theres more than 1, or you need to include another file....

Gonna give it a go without nLiting to see if it is a problem with how I am doing the minlogon registry changes, once I've done that I'll retry with an nLited XP Installation

Great. Please keep me posted with progress. I'm going to be too busy for the next few days, so I can't keep experimenting. It would be great to know what the issue is. I'll be able to go to bed without thinking about registry entries.

i'm having the same problem now, was working fine with minilogon, then I ended up having to repair the install as it screwed up installing SP1, once I switched back to minilogon after installing SP1 it won't shutdown hitting the power button.

I assume you are using minlogon bigman? Can you post your nlite settings file?
Also, did you following SFiorito's latest minlogon instruction(where you just add the config line?) or did you delete the whole winlogon key first?

Thanks
