any chance to "hide" windows

hi, i'm afraid it's not a so clever question, but: is there any chance to hide windows and start directly with the chosen front end? i mean, is there a way in order to do this:
1. avoid all post text and messages to be shown (just black screen could be good),
2. use a custom boot logo (i've already done this)
3. enter directly the front end, without see any windows trace?
thanx.

Search on terms like "windows shell" or "using FP as shell". I'm not sure you can do everything you're asking, but you can do some of it.

Yes you can do this, you cant even tell my carpc is windows as it boots straight into the frontend with no messages (apart from the boot logo of course)

You need to tell Xp to autologin

Set your shell to be your frontend rather than explorer

There is a local policy setting to disable windows status messages ("Opening network connections" and all that jazz). Once activated nothing will be shown at all apart from the default background until the frontend has loaded

Use TweakXP to change the default "login" background to black. This will mean after the boot screen all you will see is a black screen until your frontend appears.

Easy as that!

look at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

and modify the Shell registry value to your front end. Make sure you've got a way to bring up explorer or a command line once you make this change.

thanx alot. quick, sharp and clear!
only a little doubt: how about hiding motherboard post messages (press del to enter setup, irq listing and so on ... without having to delay monitor power on, i mean...).

your bios may have a "silent" boot option where it displays an image rather than the post messages. mine has it, but intel recommends not using it if you want the fastest boot possible. some even let you change the image.

just tell your frontend to open explorer.exe as an app
or use the task manager to run it

.

careful tho if your using minlogon.exe CTRL, ALT, DEL will be disabled.. so make sure your front end has a shell capability.
